how about made some background before giving him a name. I think the name will com after you know who he will be.

like... if it's Ipponese, then he may have Japanese name or Japan-lizationed name.  
long name for high rank pokemon.
or the name that goes after nature sound for very brutal life pokemon. 

for me I got one of my pokemon name after it's own specie cuz I like it's own name already.  I do like Zorua name but he's Zoroark lol  If derive from original name Zoro , Aku?... Haku?

As for the name, I haven't got a suggestion yet as I don't know anything about the character. But still, keep the awesome work up :3
