It's not as hard as it may seem.
Actually, using only 3 patterns (circle, square and star) and trying different colors and patterns' width you could achieve astonishing results!
If you got interested, you could watch [this] . There are brief video-master-class by Anna Fenina, where she explains how to make your own Ojo de Dios. Also you could search in the Net something about Jay Mohler - he making similar mandalas.
