Description On my first submission, I put a quick explanation of the crazy few months I've had and why I am now posting more. It was a bit vague so I've decided to explain in a bit more detail for those who might be curious.

About two months ago I ruptured the UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) as well as fracture the base of the thumb joint. I wish I could say I was doing something cool but I simply jammed it on a doorjam with all my weight on it.😥 Me being me, continued to work. Big mistake.

Now, a month and a half out of work with 5+ weeks to go, I have a lot of time on my hands. Well... hand. I'm just thankful I was smart enough to put some money away in case something like this happend (I still might start a Patreon, but I haven't decided.)

Anyways, I just wanted to share a little insight on what's been going on for me. Thanks for listening, or... reading, I guess.

Oh, and some wisdom from me to you:

If you feel like getting hurt just for a cast, please DON'T. I didn't and never would, but I imagine some would. Dealing with work LOA, term disability, bills, and so on... it suuuuuuuucks! My advice, buy supplies online and make your own.

But what if your fetish involves pain, helplessness, being pampered, and physical torture?
I'm asking for a friend.

I never try and judge but if their fetish is hitting themselves, I'd suggest they talk to someone about it, like a therapist. I know fetishes are near impossible to run from, believe me I've tried before, but self harm is pretty serious. And for me I've always had a good pain threshold so pain wasn't a big issue. It's the financial part of the injury that is the painful part. What most people realize is how expensive getting hurt is. Im very glad I have good health insurance. Between the surgery, pain killers, cast (and I only had one the whole time), doctors appointments, splint, and physical therapy, the grand total before insurance was just over $5100... for a thumb. Even with insurance, it was still $1800 out of pocket. To make things even better, I'm have to go back and get it checked out again because I rushed the physical therapy and likely damaged a tendon, which costs more money. On top of that I couldn't work, so i was not making money. Needless to say, your friend better be a multi-millionaire if they want to break bones for fun.

Dude I totally agree

Ive done the same thing, (esentially)

I like casts and ortho braces, but I didnt want to injure myself to get one (since I need my hands to walk, it would be inconvienet) but at work I sprained my wrist, but wasnt sure if it was really sprained, so kept working, and thought, if its really sprained, at least I'd get a brace out of it.

Yeah... Having the brace sucked. Walking was weird, the brace damaged my thumb cause it was fitted wrong, it smelled, and now with it off, my skin comes off like snow.

Plus its expensive :/ (but my parents can deal with that... Mostly)

So yeah, I feel your pain
(Almost litterally)

Get well, drawing with an immobilized wrist is hard.

Yup. The cast was nice for the first month, but the next 3 weeks sucked cause the pin that was holding the joint: 2 inch pin straight through the joint. The cast started getting loose and I could feel the pin with every little twitch. Good times. Now it's 3+ months of or.

Thats making my wrist hurt just thinking about it :/

My wrist injury is more of a recuring injury, so I dont really have to wear the brace quite as long, but I have to wear it more frequently, which is annoying. Especially when you finaly get used to doing things normally again, like work, drawing, or walking, the have to wear it again.

Id almost rather wear it 3 months straight.

I hear ya. The ligament I tore is one the most commonly reinjured. No matter how much you fix it, it will never 100% heal. But hey... Life is life. Good luck with the wrist. And like I said earlier, expect more soon
