There's this island off of south Florida that I've basically grown up going to for week long vacations. Ever since I was 12, I've loved to paddle a kayak (or nowadays, take my little aluminum boat) down to the inlet and look for dolphins just before sunset.

I've had some pretty incredible sunset dolphin encounters over the years, but to this day I still have a dream of one day capturing a photo of a dolphin leaping against a sunset backdrop

For now, my dream must be constrained to paint on a canvas…

But perhaps someday I will treasure a similar image in my camera

A lot of time and effort went into this digital painting, as I experimented with some new techniques and brushes, but the effort was well worth it! This was actually a birthday present for my mom. Her birthday was last week (it took me a while to get this art piece posted, as I've been busy for the past week) and I'm glad to report that she loved the painting!
