Description I shot this at just after sunset. the sun was low enough to throw some light on it, but the sky was dark enough to throw a strong contrast behind it. i wasn't sure about this foto but decided to post it anyway

Nice one. I like the contrast between the sky and the building; I'm sure you made the right decision to post this!

really nice shot, actually appears as if the lighthouse was shot at midday and the sky was manipulated/enhanced to get the contrasting darkness, all the more impressive knowing neither is the case.

no, it was shot about 5 30 or something later... i worked this out before, my camera was wrong and it was set to non daylight saving and no i had a filter on the lens. The lights and shadow were from a crew TV set filming there. and thanks...

Very nice photo. Great usage of a medium speed iso mixed with medium aperature and high speed shutter speed gave you a brilliant contrasting photo. The one thing I really found interesting was where the shadows are on the building with the angle you took the photo. If as in your artists comment it was after sunset the sunlight would have been facing upwards towards the lighthouse since it sits on top of a hill. At 3:20pm as per camera data the sun was still very high in the sky and would have been a very bright sky still, I know because the week before I was at Byron Bay still shooting till 6:00pm to catch a sunset on the beach.
Fantastic photo as it stands.

oh my camera was prob set wrong. and with day light saving as well, i don't live in a daylight saving time zone, so it would have been at least 2 hours wrong... but i took it also with a UV filter which explains the dark and a spot of light in the right of the shot.

Something I haven't done much of. I tend to do lots of night photography though lol which gets bit boring standing around doing long exposures on your own lol.Just let me know when something suits you as at the moment I'm not working at the moment.

Normally around southbank/kangaroo point is normally good for night shots of the city since not far to travel to get different sections of the city.
Cleveland / Wellington point are resonably good for night shots of water when get the right spots
Newstead house is ok to a certain degree .
