The smile on my face is so fucking big right now you don't understand.

Up until I finished this I had my concerns about changing Rider...but holy fuck I love her so much like this.

Rider is an older (50 so) night guard who is enjoying her life to the fullest.
She's not the happiest person but due to shutting herself away from those she loves for years she's doing her best to be a part of her families lives and enjoy what she can.

As of currently she is serving as a general in the night guard but is planning to retire in the next 10 to 15 years because she feels the position should be given to younger more energetic pony.
She's a mother of two and happily married.

Some of her backstory is a bit dark so warning:

Rider is a fairly educated and hard headed unicorn. She however is fairly disgusted by magic in general. She tends to not use it unless she's desperate.
This is due to her bad experiences with magic in general.

Rider actually gained her station as a respected general by defeating a hydra that attacked a village by the edge of the Everfree Forest. She was so respected because she did so without aid and without the use of magic or armor. Since her dream was to always be a part of a guard -and being offered such a lofty position she was more than willing to accept.
Since than she has dedicated her life to protecting others. She enjoys her job, even with all the ups and downs of it. To the point that to protect those she cared for when she was captured in an ambush she refused to give up any information at the risk of her own life so they could remain safe.

However do to this Rider suffers from emotional disconnection where in she barely feels anything beyond a numb dull ache. As well as PTSD and will suffer flashbacks from these events that cause her to become ragey and volitile.

However husband Nether Storm has done his best to help her cope and has been very accepting and understanding.
Her children Alloy and Metalica have been her saving grace in her life because they have been great in helping her adjust to normal life. Alloy in how he never judges her and is willing to help in her therapy and support her.
Metalica because she is constantly trying to make Rider smile and wont stop until she can get the barest flicker of happiness out of her.
