Description
This is a picture of Marvel Comics chararacter Domino.I drew this for the monthly P.U.M.M.E.L. compotition over at penciljack.com . Check out the poll here [link] . Really cool competion. It gives you a lot of motivation to improve your skills as a artist. It also motivates me to draw at least 1 time a month.
The topic was female action heroes.
I knew from the start I wanted to use Domino, but my biggest problem was trying to think of what she would be doing in the picture.
I ended up thinking I would have her riding on a motorcycle away from a chopper that was shooting at her.
I got the reffrences, and was about to draw tha until I saw my brothers Trigun DVD collection.
On one of the DVDS Vash is sitting agisnt a wall after a fire fight. I figured that would work great for Domino. So instead of using the exact pose from the DVD I decided to try and out do it.
Instead of the fight being over I have bullets nearly missing her. The wall isnt holding up, and the her gun is totaly out of bullets. This is the momment right before something amazingly lucky happens to save her.
I drew this with the magic blue pencil that I got frEric Vedder at A-kon 21.
After drawing inked the drawing by hand. This is my current mythod of inking. The character gets the thickest lines. The out line of the character has the thickest lines, and the back ground has the thinest lines.
It was difficult deciding how much to block in the black. No going back with ink. I tried to correct my mistakes with my white marke, but it didnt help much.
I think as far as my black leather cladwomen drawings go this is my best so far. This makes that Catwoman look lame.
Oh, I drew her nose diffrent than I ussaly do. Not sure if that is something I want to keep doing in future drawings.
May or may not color this.

This is a really strong picture- you've done great work with perspective to enhance the exciting nature of the scene. I really like the inks you've applied on her suit, and your highlighting technique is brilliant, I think. You've obviously put a lot of thought into how to not just lay out the picture but also bring out as much detail as intelligently as possible.

Wow! Neena has quickly become one of my favourite Marvel women. I love the necklace you drew, and her nose looks great. I recognized the pose, but couldn't place it till you mentioned Trigun.
Love the inking you've done, too- I'm crap with ink or markers or whathaveyou, so I super appreciate someone elses' skillz. ^___^

Thank you! I couldnt remember her real name. They changed it a few times. Seems as though she is another character with a bad memmory.
I hope my skills with ink get better, but until they do I can always make corrections in photoshop. Even so I do like have a great looking hardcopy of my work. Then people may want to purchase it.

The nose does not actually look like a lady's nose, and this can be fixed very easily.
The line that is from the tip of the nose that disappears right above the left nostril; if removed, it will make it look less masculine, or make it look entirely feminine. Either way, the removal of that simple line will do you much good.
Some of the bullet holes seem to lack depth to me, I think this is mainly because it looks like you drew a bunch of curly lines spiraling inwards rather than the same detail you put in for the bordering debris. What I would suggest you do is erase the insides of most holes, and do the same effect you did for bordering bullet-destroyed cover.
The gun.
It needs to have thicker lines, otherwise it disappears. It also isn't thick enough.
After that, the piece is really good, the debris on Domino and her clothes is a nice touch, and the smoke from the barrel and the discarded gun is also a nice touch.
