Looks really good. I think the focus along with the very bumpy sand does make it look like a miniature as well.

thank you very much! Yeah I tend to overdo the focus, I just like the DOF effect, but you're right it makes things look like miniature

if you are using an unbiased renderer you adjust the settings just like you would do with your camera
otherwise you can do it in postpro with the zbuffer
