I read Laby fanfic last night for the first time in, I dunno ...yearsI was re-reading Roommates and Girls Next Door, both of which are completely and utterly bat-shit crazy-hilarious. One thing led to another and I was reading fic.
I'd sort of forgotten how AMAZING the Labyrinth fandom is. There was a reason Labyrinth was my introduction to fandom. Well, that and when I saw it I was a 13 year old girl with an unhealthy relationship with glitter.
on the off chance that you're a Laby fan and don't know about Roommates by ~AsheRhyder or GND by *Pika-la-Cynique ....for gods sake child, get yourself to their pages!!!

I'm A Fan of those fan comic's too!!! I wish I knew people in my personal life who knew Labyrinth, my mom's the only person who does and well... she's notta fan . Oh well, at least here I know I'm not the only one whose obsessed with that Fabu movie XXD. Anywhooo, your drawing is very lovely and hope that unlike RMs and GND fashion, Sarah is not unconscious XXXD! Brilliant work!

Oh man that fic is so good! I need to go re-read it, it's been ages! There are still a few I return to periodically and re-read. I actually recently finished re-reading "The Enticement" by Scattered Logic, because I make a point to read it every Christmas!

It's amazing though! As is GND, if I remember rightly (don't hold me to this I'm not sure) I think it's 33 with the random black chicken in the cupboard and Christine swears at it in French and whacks it with a tray. I couldn't breathe I was laughing so much!

I think one of the hardest things for many of us as artists is to learn not to undervalue ourselves. Its so easy to fall into that trap of thinking that we'll be ready to share our art when we're 'good enough'. Its something I've been struggling with recently (which is why I haven't posted art in like, 6 months). The truth is, we're never as good as we wish we were. No matter where we are in our artistic journey I think we need to try and remember that it's a learning process, an evolution. Don't feel discouraged about your writing, even if it's not where you wish it were. Genuine and earnest effort is always beautiful (and anyone who gives you crap about it instead of helpful critique or encouragement isn't worth your time or consideration).

This is lovely...when I first saw it, it reminded me of a scene in the fanfic I wrote not long ago for a creative writing assignment in which I had to take a movie or book and craft a sequel...of course, I chose Labyrinth. I was the same as you, a young teenage girl who fell head over heels for the movie!

its like the ultimate teenage girl movie! I was at a steampunk convention a few months ago with one of my best friends (from middle school on) and there were a bunch of teenagers sitting at a table singing Labyrinth songs. My friend and I just looked at each other like "aaaaawwwwwwww, NOSTALGIA!". Warmed the cockles of my heart.

I can't even remember what I was reading at the time I did this, and I've been reading laby fic for so long that some of my faves aren't even available on the internet anymore. But here are a few suggestions off the top of my head, N.B. I tend to like happy endings and a Jareth who isn't too evil:
