How did a gigantic tree like that land up on the beach? Excellent photo though.

Thanks for the comment......the whole area has large redwoods washed on the beach due to the weather and the erosion of the forest into the sea.  This just happens to be a really unusually large example and has been on La Push Beach for a number of years.

Wow. Thank you for explaining that, I was really wondering. Makes a really dramatic composition, but slightly depressing when you know the reason. It's amazing how so many different elements can come together over many years to make that one photo.

yes it was. It's one of my favourite shots, especially as my daughter is in the image.....the comparison in size is immense!!
