Description 1620's. After his deposition from the Swedish throne in 1599 by his own uncle, Sigismund III Vasa, elected king of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, sought a way which could help him reclaim the country which was rightfully his - according to traditional rules of father-to-son inheritance after John III of Sweden. This led to the inevitable - the destructive Polish-Swedish wars.

In this struggle, the Baltic Sea became the natural battlefield. With Swedish convoy lines stretched between Pomerania and Scandinavia, it was vital for Sigismund to disrupt them by any means possible. During his reign in Poland, the Polish Navy was built from scratch and many privateers were hired.

Wacom Graphire 4 tablet. Don't know how many hours, probably about 10-12. I know the drawing has a lot of flaws, but I wanted to finally finish it.

Cheers,

This is insanely cool! For a moment, I thought it was a still frame from some pirate movie (before I read the description)! Would you mind submitting this to my group?

About the waves - I think there's too much of an impressionist in me. I can never get the sharp and crisp lines of a violent sea to work properly.
