The Flagship at the time was the 'Mary rose', shw was of the Great Ship class.

absolutely fantastic. It looks like the Mary Rose. the design revolutionalized naval combat in the tudor era. but her greatest advantage, the huge cannons that laid just above the waterline, prooved to be her greatest downfall when a swell came up and flooded the lower decks draging her and her entire crew to the bottom of the ocean while Henry 8th watched from land.

They made a ship like that, I think called the "Royal Rose" that was so topheavy it literally capsized in the mouth of the harbor.

I'm curious, did the ships really have that much of a bend in them? were they really arched like that? Particularly from this angle it look very dramatic.

Rather not, but many contemporary paintings or drawings show such deformed vessels, so it's possible that some of them actually did look like that. However, I think I somewhat exaggerated the bend on this one (the main reference: [link] )
