Looks like the F-22 and YF-23 Lighting II had a baby. I think I'm going to make my own aerobatic jet designs in the future. I can't just do Star Trek designs all the time!

Hahaha! I like your analysis! It does look like the result of a hybrid breeding program.
It's difficult not to be influenced and inspired by 5th generation fighter design.

Yeah, 5th Gen fighters have some amazing designs. The YF-23 Lightning II is one my favorites, even though it never reached production. Lockheed made such a futuristic design there.

I agree. The YF-23 Lightning failed, I think because it was a 7th generation design. It was a Beautiful beautiful design and I was actually heartbroken when it lost out to the, mundane by comparison, F-22.

To be fair, I've flown the Raptor many times in Ace Combat 4 and 5, and she rarely fails me. The F-22 is a well rounded fighter, a natural progression the stealth design ethos started by the F-117 Nighthawk, and I love the design of the vector thrust engines.
The YF-23 just has more flair. Far more flair. Compared the futuristic, sleek YF-23, the F-22 looks so last century.

Agree completely. I'm sure the F-22 is a fearsome super effective weapons platform. But it's just not Star Trek.

Actually, I was wrong about Lockheed making the YF-23. It was Northrop/McDonnell Douglas. Lockheed Martin made the F-22. Now I feel like a n00b.
Funny how an aircraft company famous for making unusual (and forward thinking) designs like the F-117, B2, and SR-71 would make a more mundane looking aircraft.

You are forgiven. I didn't even notice the mistake until you mentioned. We are, as Spock would say, only human.
I concur about the disappointing design effort (in terms of style) of Lockheed engineers. But I susppect we might forgive them if we were allowed to see some of their real USAP (Unacknowledged Special Access Project) designs.

Actually, I think the B2 Spirit was also designed by Northrop/McDonnell Douglas. *Looks it up*
Correction, Northrop/Grumman designed the Spirit.
And yes, it wouldn't be so bad if the military would allow us to see their real cool designs. Geez, I'm not asking for a chance to get a ride in one of them! Just to gloss over the designs!
And maybe have the propulsion technology trickle down to airliners.

Thanks so much for your kindness Ray. I really appreciate it ☺️✨
I am working on a pencil of two cats for a friend and I'm working on a new spaceplane for me. It feels so good to be back in my studio 😄✨
