Thank you Leva. I remember being really happy with that painting when I was done.

That's surreal. Really like this one, it's like Dali but cooler. What size are you working at?

Thank you very much, yeah... Dali was always pretty uncool ;0)
The size is 8000 pixels wide. (BTW: You can always see the original format size under details to the right)

Whoa! I can't tell if it's a creature or an evil tree! It's really cool.

Like it! Makes me things of Ghibli's Castle in the Sky with the little man climbing at the bottom of the picture.... But more in a Gothic way. I do not know if it is done on purpose, but there also seems to be creatures that you can guess in the holes, like a dragon and a screetching cat... Or maybe it is just my imagination a susual....
Cheers!
Thama

Thanks a bunch! Sounds great with the abstract creatures - hmmm, I wonder where I put the screetching cat in...?! ;0)

Right hand side, opposite the dragon. It is not as obvious though.
Cheers!

I really like what you are doing here as well as in your gallery. Especially the light background with the dark foreground. Good composition too... keeps my eye rolling around the image looking for more. I have been thinking about trying a Wacom tablet too and I see you have become quite confortable with it. How long did it take you to adapt to using one? I have heard in the past that the program Painter works really well with the Wacom tablets... have you ever used that program?

Hello, thank you very much for your comment :0) I first picked up the Wacom about a year ago, but I think you can get used to the Wacom in a couple of days (the first days are full of mistakes and so on). After that the use gets more and more natural. Actually I have not tried out Painter yet - mostly because I am very satisfied with Photoshop and I knew Photoshop so well before I tried using the Wacom on it. Painter is supposed to be a bit closer to natural painting, and have excellent brushes. Photoshop has some other excellent technical qualities like layer manipulations and so on. But they should both be excellent so just download trial versions of both, I guess.

How big is this hanging plant monster supposed to be?

JakobHansson In reply to Enshohma [2011-09-02 05:47:16 +0000 UTC]
It is big! There is a tiny human climbing on a string at the very bottom of the image!

Okay, I see the little guy now; its a gorgeous piece and equally awesome looking monster, but I still needed to bring up the size question, because we get a lot of submissions that miss the simple criteria of GIANT monster. Thank you so very much for the informative reply, and hope we get more such high end submissions from you - this really is a great illustration!
BTW, we love more giants at but for a wider variety of monster types (regardless of sizes), you might want to consider our sister group below:

Thanks so much; I know its not a perfect group, but my love for fictional / fantasy monsters were too much in this case. I'll also be returning you're "Edge of the World" illustration back to our prestigious Featured Gallery at Kaijuden as well.

JakobHansson In reply to Thedarkdestroyer [2011-09-01 18:06:23 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, yes please - that would be cool to see! I don't think my creature is human though...if you notice the tiny, tiny human climbing on the string at the bottom of the picture, you will see the creature is quite huge in comparison!
