Young Milsley the Desert Witch from Katie and Shaggy Shanahan's new comic Silly Kingdom.Katie (known hereabouts as Ktshy [link] ) draws beautifully. Her design sketches for young Milsley in the back of the book were so cool that I had to play with them.

How is it that you're able to get your pencils the same consistent density?

I use pretty soft lead (2b-4b) which keeps a fairly consistent density even with little variations in pressure. And I use leads in a clutch pencil instead of wooden pencils, which helps with the width, too.

I have seen lots of the advertising done for this book and nothing has made me want to read it as much as this fanart
