Description 3D Studio with the Vray render engine. Total render time was 1 hour, 26 minutes and 21 seconds. This one was build from various old parts I had lyring around mixed with elements from illustrator.

I must say that I love Vray, and especially its reflections and brushed metal effects. It's damned fast as well, making it a breeze to work with. This had to be the most complex 3D scene I've ever done, and I learned a lot in doing it. I didn't exactly think in low polygon count when I did it, with most of the objects having way too many polygons, but that just mean I can do closeups as well.

All in all, I think this piece came out really well, and more or less precisely as I wanted it. There's really no deeper meaning, I just like big futuristic guns a lot. Oh, and chains too. And reflections.

Widescreen (1920x1200) and midsize LCD (1280x1024) resolutions available at my site .

SETUP-MONKEY [2007-03-04 06:59:39 +0000 UTC]

one question, the one on your site of this, that zooms, does it use a script that acctual magnifies it or does it use some form of mask onto a bigger version of the picture?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jake In reply to SETUP-MONKEY [2007-03-04 19:07:29 +0000 UTC]

It uses a mask to show the download version. Thanks for all of your comments, by the way!

yea... i wish they made vray for maya... but hour and half is kinda long. i can achive similar results in 15 minutes.. maybe less. but good model! heavy power!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jake In reply to zoomzoom [2006-11-16 23:15:35 +0000 UTC]

it was a 3000x2000 or so, and as a vray noob, I just more or less turned every setting up to be sure to get a decent result. And as I wrote, the polygon count is massive. Unfortunatly, I've never had the patience to learn another 3D program, even though it sounds good with 15 minutes...

max is good... but i hear from people that know how to use both... maya has better uv mapping and animation tools...
