Ssshhh - he doesn't need any encouragement... Β There are enough sticks and things in the back yard already........

Thank you. Ollie certainly does have some interesting habits...
If he lived where you live, I think he would be in heavenly bliss 24/7. Dogs, snow, water and someone with a camera - it's all Ollie ever wants. It's just that he wants it all 24/7, LOL.Β

I wonder what Ollie's fascination is with these logs? It looks pretty heave and he just doesn't really seem to be struggling much

It was, and he didn't. I don't know how he managed it - I do know he has AMAZING teeth (serrated along the front forward-facing edges - something I've never seen on another dog) and a very strong neck.Β
Neither of these things seem to truly explain how he can carry a log on one side of jaw, but there he is doing just that.Β
This is one log that wasn't brought home - I didn't think it fair to try and wedge it into my friend's very small Toyota hatchback!!
As for why? I think he likes a challenge. He'll try anything at least once (food, terrain, water, leaves on plants that happen to be nearby, oh and occasionally flowers too). He doesn't like to be defeated...

I've seen many (larger) dogs carry larger logs, but not on one side of their mouths. That's the part that really surprised me!!

That is really amazing and Ollie seems always so willing to get the job done!

Oh believe it, believe it and rub your eyes. I did....
He wanted to bring it home - I'm not even sure it would have fitted in the boot/trunk of my friend's car!Β

LOL - he's currently lying on the sofa with his head flopping off the edge. Β But night he does like to rest his head on something hard, like the bed-edge, or my ankles.Β

...like concrete. If he bases me during play it can leave a bruise, or make my teeth hurt - he appears to have an iron skeleton!

Lots and lots of vegetables, exercise and a 'damn you' spirit that could probably have shortened WW2 by a year!Β
I'm still embarrassed by comments people make as they walk past...

Amen to that. I love 'em raw, cooked, stewed, in soups - I think I've passed that on to Ollie without even thinking about it at the time....

Lordy no. I like nothing better than bacon, pate and ham. I don't eat meat very often as it's expensive and I'm not working, and I only cook about twice a week. The rest of the time I graze on fruit, veg, sandwiches and pork pies.Β

Pate is a savoury spread : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liver_pa⦠é
Ham, bacon, sausages - anything piggy is fine with me. pate is normally made with pork liver, but it can be made with chicken liver - I've even made it myself (it's delicious)...
