Here is another OC that I talk about often but do not draw that much. It is Big Brother Derrick. Why do I call him that? Because Derrick is the eldest member of The Jade Owls. With the exception of Derrick, all members of The Jade Owls are between the ages of 19 to 23, but Derrick is the eldest at 28-years-old. So he is basically the big brother to all The Jade Owls, including Haerile and Itzapa.

Derrick is quite a man who has lived a remarkable life. Born and raised in Honululu, Hawaii, he is of Japanese Ancestry, he has a younger brother and 2 younger sisters.

At 15, while surfing with his sisters, his right leg was bitten off below the knee by a shark. He lost a lot of blood and almost died, but luckily he managed to survive. But he still continued to surf with his prosthetic leg.

He was a straight A valedictorian at his school and graduated high school early and was accepted to university where he majored in Education, eventually becoming an Art Teacher and also a Geography Teacher at his university.

Prior to being transported to Otacaia, he accepted a position in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for two positions at a college where Russell, Zia, and Brandon were attending.

This drawing is taken about a day before the time he travelled to Canada. He is sitting on the very beach where he lost his leg, contemplating that he will be leaving his hometown for a new country. And little does he know...a new planet.
