So let me get this right: the clay didn't come in those colors, you painted it all of those amazing, fantastic colors? Wow. That's dedication - how long did it take to paint the entire thing? This is so gorgeous, by the way. The colors go so well together.

Thank you and yes, all painted by me. I'm not used to working with pre-colored clay, I've never tried it. But I'd like to eventually. Painting probably took me about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I don't pay as much attention as I should, I just come home from work, get out the colors I need and paint until it's finished Most of these paints require several coats to have a uniform color on the clay, and then I'm a horrible perfectionist, so I retouch everything until it looks just right. I love my pearls and metallics had a lot of fun with this color scheme.

Wow. You truly are dedicated and patient. No wonder your creations always turn out so beautiful. What brand of paints do you use? I mainly dislike painting my clay things so much because I'm not super happy with the kind of paint I have... I think that's what I like most about it; that sort of sheeny effect that the paint gives it. I can't take my eyes off it.

Thank you so much I used acrylics, really whatever brand I can find in this town lol I can't be as picky as I would like. But over the last several years, I have amassed quite the collection of brands and colors. My absolute favorite brands to use are either Duncan or Delta Ceramcoat... they are great quality and don't need as many coats to look good (plus they last forever). But I can't find them anywhere near here, I'm not even sure if they are still around or not. Then I have a very select few colors made by a company called Apple Barrel Colors... I don't use them much so I don't recall how good/bad they are. If I remember right though, they are pretty good. Currently, for any new colors I have needed, I either use FolkArt paint (this is my primary aside from what few Duncan and Delta I have left) or I've bought several Martha Stewart Pearl colors, only because her brand seems to be the only brand I can find that has "pearls". It just gave me a wider variety of the shimmery coloring you like and it only takes a few coats to look wonderful. And last on my list is a brand called Craft Smart... I don't recommend it. Very cheap, had a few colors I needed, but takes SEVERAL coats to look halfway decent. Now that I've written a journal in my reply lol I'll stop

Aaargh, I have quite a few bottles from Craft Smart. I've noticed that whatever I paint with those always needs a ridiculous amount of coats and touching up. I'll try to stay away from it from now on. And I'll have to look for those Martha Stewart pearl colors. I really like that effect. Haha, no worries! Your information was very helpful.

I'm glad I could help I get a little type-happy sometimes lol Hope you can find some of the other brands The only places I can find paints here are Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Walmart.
