Description
It's my OC Chateau, a flightless pegasus in a meadow admiring a butterfly, simple concept yeah, but oh well. Drawn with fineliner pen and colour pencils on A4 copy paper, hope you like it.Lineart can be found right here fav.me/d5e38rm , feel free to colour it yourself, I won't mind.

Just because you are inspired by certain artists does not mean you should be compared to them. You are a unique individual with a unique artistic style.
Perhaps in certain ways you have already surpassed your idols.

No prob, and thanks. Wonder if they even sell those in the U.S. I hope they do for my wallet's sake so I don't have to spend $50+ for nice color pencils.

It probably won't matter if they don't, there must be tonnes of brands as good or better for the money. I can't really compare, because they're the only brand of watercolour pencils I've ever used. I'd imagine any student grade pencils can get the job done, you just need to put down multiple layers, and highlight stuff vivid reds and yellows.

Yeah, there has to be. Prismacolor is good but it's crazy expensive. A pack of 48 costs like $60. Maybe they're just like the Apple of color pencil makers in that there are just as good of brands out there for cheaper but because of a crazy ego on their part, they think that just because their name is slapped on there that they can charge twice as much as it's really worth.

Well, I checked the Mont Marte website, and it looks like they're only available in Australia. But there would be some good American brands out there that are also affordable, a tip would be to avoid huge chain stores like Walmart, and look in and around smaller, privately owned shops.

I looked them up and yeah, it appears that not even Amazon carried that Mont Marte. I ended up ordering a set of 24 Faber Castell pencils off of Amazon and got a really good deal for them. It appears they're much better quality than prismacolor too. Apparently prismacolors are so soft, the leads are often broken up inside of the pencils. Definitely not worth it.

Is it a female character? Because chateau is a masculine word, so if it is a female character it does not suit very well. But the picture is beautiful.

She's named after the Chateau D'yquem wine, so yeah, I didn't really take any gender biases into account.

Now this really cought my eye. Out of the many digital artist it is good to know there is still traditional artists out there. I wish I coulduse my colors like you do but I suppose everything comes with pratice.
