Description Shoeless Joe Jackson (Evil Joes Series 2of4)
Pen & Ink, Ink Wash
2010

Feeling cheated by his penny-pinching owner, this Evil Joe and seven of his teammates on the 1919 Chicago White Sox baseball team made agreements with gamblers to fix the world series, so that their opponents, the much weaker Cincinnati Reds would win the World Series that year. When the fix was finally revealed and made known to the public, the selfish actions of this Joe, not only broke the heart of hero-worshiping boys all over America, it nearly ruined the nation's national past-time.

Did you know that Rothstein was a pal also of Charles McGraw, the brilliant manager of the New York Giants), and they even owned a pool hall together at one time. McGraw is in the Hall of Fame (no proof he ever threw any games in his career).

Yes, I forgot that John McGraw's biographer is Charles Alexander (who also wrote a biography of Ty Cobb). Charles McGraw, the accidental name I gave you, was the name of a film actor.
