Description

Soulless: The Immortal Gene
Book One
Written by Jacinta Maree

New adult series - dystopian supernatural.

Release Date: Coming soon.

SNEAK PEEK:

The world had turned to waste; immortality was never meant for man and it drove humanity to the edge of destruction. There had been plenty of stories about how the human race would end. Unlike the movies from Hollywood, there was no big bang like a sun exploding; there was no catastrophic moment where our world was flipped upside down like in a nuclear war or zombie virus outbreak. It was gradual, like a seeping virus that withered everything within its path until it ground us down into brittle, hollowed cores. It wasn’t out to destroy our bodies; it destroyed everything we once treasured. Hope, love, compassion, joy… even our mortality. It was all gone. And now it mocked us with a peace we could never achieve, death.

Ha ha, thank you so much, you can always ask your local book store to order it in for you but I'm doing this one independent, so it's going to be A LOT harder without a publishing house backing me.     I decided I wanted to know what it was like controlling the entire publishing process, so I picked my release date, my cover, exactly what went into the manuscript, everything. So i'm pretty excited / very nervous about it all.

Sure, no problem! I've always been interested and fascinated with the real consequences of immortality. Is it truly a good thing? But what kind of life would you have if you could live forever? Happy, sad? I'd rather live a short or live one day with happiness, fulfillment, and love than live thousands of years in misery. Not many people think of that. So yeah, best of luck with it, okay?

I agree and I also wanted to throw in the idea of madness and indifference towards death. What type of person would you become if you knew you could evade death? And what would happen to the human mind if it would remember every death and every new life it has? It'll go insane. It really is fascinating to watch these people in this world crumple beneath themselves. There are some things worse than death.

Exactly. I mean, look at humanity now. Can you imagine the world if humans can remember their past lives after being reborn, or going through such pain and sorrows and not being able to die? Oh gosh. NO thanks. Humanity is flawed enough. I think it's very unique and interested you are dealing with that subject, as not many authors do that. If they do, it's mostly about vampires. That's been done SOOOO many times. The one thing I can definitely think of that's worse that death is a cage, as one of the characters in the Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers movie says. Nothing is worse than being trapped in a cage.

Ha! Vampires!!!
A lot of agents and publishers say Vampires are almost impossible to sell nowadays, the market has just been absolutely flooded with them. Unfortunately for me, next  I think is dystopian. There's too many. There's a whiff of popular theme and everyone goes bananas.
I was hoping at least, with mine, that dystopian comes in the form of immortality and madness instead of a zombie virus.  Even so, vampires still value life (to a degree) as they need blood to survive. Even a vampire can die, reincarnation doesn't allow death. Well... permanent death anyway. XP Its so cool I can talk to someone about this. Many don't seem to think it's an interesting topic.
And that's so beautifully put. Nothing is worse than being trapped in a cage. It gives me the shivers.

Yep, I do agree. I know your story will be unique and you'll put your own spin on that genre. Yeah, of course it can be interested. There's such a misguided idea of immortality. What if it's not what people think? We all have to consider that. Please continue to keep us updated, okay?
