so i've been unreasonably drunk this weekend and did two things: downloaded sai and watched 13 reasons why in ignorance of all the twitterpation it's been causing.sai may have changed my life. i kicked it under the bus when i gave it a very unfair chance at life on my desktop a year ago and i regret it hard. it feels so much more natural than photoshop it's startling. still used ps for tex and stuff though.
and i'll refrain from commenting on 13 reasons why because that territory is a minefield, but i always start mulling over my characters that demonstrate a strong and unexpected resiliency when i get into content like that. so here's my one eyed wonder.
seems like as the number of meticulous shits i give goes down my enjoyment just keeps going up. this was a fun/experimental/paint-sketch thing

I didn't even know what the heck '13 reasons why' was until I looked it up lol. I saw it on my Netflix but never bothered seeing what it was about. And now I can understand why you don't wanna comment on it

Also I friggin love sai. Photoshop is awesome and all but feels clumsy to paint with in comparison.

ty red i was actually really happy with the gesture and the flow! was a lot easier to emphasize it working in mostly monotone.
yes, i feel like i'm working twice as hard to achieve what i want in photoshop vs sai and i've been using ps for a year versus this weekend. its very powerful for editing though so i'm not talking it down just a bit surprised now that artists turn almost exclusively to photoshop at least the highly visible ones and sai is almost put off as the program for beginners that can't afford ps don't know how to circumvent paying for it

And yeah I'm not hating on Ps either, I still think it's irreplaceable in so many ways, so I keep switching back and forth between it and SAI. :] But sai is definitely more comfortable just to paint with. I didn't know it had that kind of rep though, I know it's mostly associated with anime artists and that's it haha.
