I'm sorry but, you sir, just sound like a fan girl.
1) Naruto & Bleach have a lot better artwork then your sad little show. It barely resembles anime at all to me, it makes me want to think of that half-rate Bobobo show. I would rather watch something that doesn't look like I'd find it on CN next to retarded shows like Adventure Time or whatever other gobbly-gook is on there.
2) Luffy got his powers from a fruit. Literally, nothing else. He just started putting on power pants after virtually, nothing. While Ichigo does no better on his power trips, Naruto hardly ever got a hold of his power in the beginning. It's even explained in the damn thing that ninja only attain their chakra through harsh mental and physical conditioning, much of this training being covered in the academy. Yes, we don't see much of that development excluding the times he actually trains for his techniques and being improvised through their continual battles, but it is implied. Besides that fact, Naruto is a teenager who's at the lowest rung on the ninja totem pole (the Genin) which is *why* there are teammates that help out. And it's practically anime serum dude. Of course there will be people helping, there always will be, I'm sure I'll find that in Crap-Piece as well. Naruto doesn't truly become self-reliant and powerful when he's an ADULT which is expected! Luffy had next to nothing. It was the equivalent of taking a super pill. Goku as well wasn't super powerful, in the beginning he was a weak shit that was taught how to fight by Master Roshi, who then steadily grew in power from his lineage. Yeah, dying and coming back has it's complications, but he wasn't a suped badass till late in DBZ and explains more then a super dose of vitamin C.
3) Levels of annoyance was over 9000!!! (YES I WENT THERE). I tried watching One Piece, but the story was so half-assed, it was crazy. They had to repeat the whole point of the show in every episode to make you remember why they became pirates in the first place and while Naruto did not have a real future goal (asside from becoming Hokage) they showed actually important shit 3/4 of the time. From episode to episode of One Piece, I could barely remember much of the shit that would happen, much of it seemingly random ass stuff blended into what is supposed to be the story arc, almost as bad as Bobobo was in taking super random deviations with nearly every episode. And if you wanted a badass story, you went with Bleach. From the getgo Ichigo was fighting bigger things then pirates and cross-dressing douches. He was fighting, essentially, demons and angels and had to a very strong goal with every arc that wasn't shoved aside. Every anime has it's off-beat episodes between development, but at least they made sense (somewhat).
4. The power of Luffy is ripped off. Come on. In a age of time where nothing is sacred or unmanageable under copyright, we know exactly where the whole rubber idea came from. That idea is so played out in comic book media already, it's a snore fest whenever Luffy did it and, while it had a nice spin, put an anime texture on the Fantastic Four and you would've gotten the same bloody thing. In Naruto and Bleach, while elements are a hard thing to get away from, we say unique powers and applications that weren't cut and paste out of some comic book somewhere. While it is trademark for anime to have over the top powers, Naruto had very realistic boundaries to the users and what they could pull off and drew lines explicitly. granted that's fuel to break those lines, but at least we saw the consequences. As far as I remember, other then gaining the ability to never be flaccid, Luffy had no consequences for his powers. He age wasn't affected, he wasn't set up to die, no. Nothing. Just an all magic fruit gives you rubber powers. Let's be real here, if it were that bloody easy, everyone would have one and Luffy would have a hell of a lot more trouble. Rubber tenacity be damned, give him a couple whacks with Rasengan or Chidori and he'd fall and that's counting the most simple of techniques. Put some genjutsu shit on Luffy and he would be screwed inside of ten seconds and against a person who wields a giant clever for a sword whom eradicates large patches of terrain in single swings and goes faster then sound, there's no way Luffy would win against any good character in either show. He would be screwed unconditionally.
In all, looking at this picture, let alone reading the entire thing, caused a sufficient amount of my brain cells to die and I was going to simply ignore this, but every nerve in me decided to do this otherwise, even though it probably won't break that concrete skull. If you *actually* watched all three shows and understood each one as much as you say you do, you wouldn't have written this, hell, you wouldn't give a shit about One Piece. People who praise it like it's gold just make me sick and to find somebody like you doing this, kills a little bit more of my faith in humanity and to you, I say, SOD OFF YA BLOODY WANKER

Are you really calling someone a fangirl?
Like, that is that epitome of being a hypocrite.
NARUTARD.
BLEACH FANGIRL.
Oh, by the way, OP is actually no 1. of the big 3. Don't call me a OP fangirl, search it up on google. "As of 2013, the series had over 345 million volumes in circulation worldwide, of which 300 million were sold in Japan alone, making it the best-selling manga series in history."

GamerDruid In reply to ZoLu7 [2014-02-11 18:06:33 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps it was a bit hasty to use Fangirl as an excuse. I could be overly criticized in the same manner...however...I will retort with this...
Twilight. As of April 2012, the series has sold over 120 million copies. If popularity meant instant success, certainly, OP would probably be the shit. The problem is, it isn't. An absurd number of people listen to ICP or Kanye West, but there's no denying, from rational folk anyway, that they're complete and utter shit.
Just because something massively sells, does not mean it's the best stuff out there. It just means a whole lot of idiots support it, which believe me, is far more credible argument then fanboy/fangirl is, I can guarantee you that.

You're right, Kanye West, ICP, and especially Twilight… they're all shit.
But would you call the Beatles shit? Would you call Harry Potter shit?
"just because something massively sells, does not mean it's the best stuff out there. It just means a whole lot of idiots support it, which believe me, is far more credible argument then fanboy/fangirl is, I can guarantee you that"
LMAO, you realise Naruto and Beach "sell massively"? You just flamed your own preferences and called yourself an idiot.
And what gives you the right to call people who support One Piece idiots? I'll say it again - Twilight, etc… it's shit. The people who support it are in a way, idiots. Even though I myself have no right to say that.
People call Oda genius. And he is. Luffy like a breath of fresh air. He's original, and he isn't the typical badass, "I'm so damn powerful imma gonna blow you off this planet with one motherfu**ing punch" shounen jump main protagonist. (Even though he is badass). And don't say Luffy is a rip off version of Goku. Because Goku is the epitome of "I'm so damn powerful I'm gonna destroy the frickin' universe with one attack." Though they may bear similarities in attitude and love of food, they are in essence, completely different. When a fan asked Oda why Luffy didn't get a really cool powers like fire, or ice, magma, light, etc, and he instead became a rubber man, Oda-sensei said he didn't want his series to finish so quickly and become boring for fans. No, Luffy has to develop on his own, and we get to see the amazing journey.
The art is not bad. Seriously, what part of it is BAD? Guys call the girls hot, girls call the guys hot and everyone thinks Chopper is adorable.
Random stuff blended into each arc? One of the reasons OP is so popular is because of the storyline. It's amazing, creative, smart and touching.
And where exactly did the "whole rubber idea" come from? Bro, OP started in the LATE 1990'S. It was one of the first Shounen Jump anime to be made. (Or at least well-known). People started using Oda's ideas, not the other way around…
And looking at a drawing wouldn't make your brain cells die. You were just dumb to begin with .

First off, you're not really understanding the context of my words. I didn't say that things that massively sell made everyone who supports it an idiot, only that, unfortunately, a lot of idiotic things have large amounts of idiocy behind them. Not that everything that makes it big is only supported by them. That's not what I was saying at all.
Secondly, I never really saw the comparisons people point out between Luffy and Goku. They're as you say, completely different. Color scheme and love of food could be compared against a large number of manga and anime in the world. Luffy's a loud mouth, freedom seeking pirate and Goku the brutally powerful, if not at times idiotic (which if you ever watch parodies, look up TeamFourStar, they do an awesome parody of DBZ Abridged), alien warrior. Other then the previous quirks, they share almost no comparisons.
Thirdly, I thought this was self-explanatory but I guess not. Mr. Fantastic from Marvel. Appeared in the 1960's. THAT'S when the whole rubber thing started springing up (pun totally intended XD).

Uh, yeah, I've never heard of him before. Can you give me a link or something that shows a huge rubber thing started from that? Cause I can't really find anything when I search it up (yeah, I'm really that bad) or how it would actually find Oda in Japan and give him the actual idea for Luffy's powers. Television!? It was the late 1900s after all.
Great that you think that way about Goku at least, I just had to include him because some people say Luffy's a Goku rip off. (A lot of OP bashing is centred fully on that) With absolutely no proof to support their claims, of course, except that they have similar personalities and DBZ was made earlier than OP.
You know, you actually have some pretty decent points. I wish you had written something like that in your first message up there, instead of downright flaming and bashing OP, you'll actually have someone take you seriously if you don't insult or swear like that.
"I tried watching One Piece, but the story was so half-assed, it was crazy."
"I've watched what I could stand from One Piece. I tried to like it a long time ago but, for the reasons above, I couldn't and I despise the reception it gets for no amicable reasons and it infuriates me more when retards say shit like Luffy could take down main characters from each show, when there's no possible way he ever could, more then half of the cast for every show having crippling powers that would rape Luffy inside of five minutes."
Have you even gotten past the time-skip? Before that, he would have probably lost, but he's upgraded a lot of his powers, gotten haki and we still haven't seen it all. The rest of his crew is no exception. Plus OP still has 10 years to go. For Luffy to be this strong now at the halfway point is great. As I said before, OP isn't the typical shounen genre anime with the typical 'oh I'm so badass I'm gonna wipe your ass across the floor' main protagonist. Instead of giving him something like the fire DF, or the light DF, magma Df, ice, etc. he got left with rubber, which is pretty ridiculous if you look at the whole thing in context for someone who wants to become the PK. Lets look at what this DF can do. 1. Repel bullets. 2. Repel blunt force 3. Repel lighting 4. Stretch and thats about all. Lighting? He defeated the guy with lighting, he isn't gonna face him again. Bullets? Uh, are all his enemies gonna be some half-assed navy soldiers waving a gun at him? And repelling blunt force? Pretty much useless once you go against stronger enemies. He's weak against fire, water, sharp edges, and just about everything else.
But has he been defeated yet? No. This whole story is about how he develops, and as Mihawk (strongest swordsman in the OP world) once stated, he isn't exceptionally strong on his own, with exceptionally strong powers. But he has one the most dangerous powers on the ocean, and thats to make friends or allies with everyone he meets. (I'm not talking about marines or anything, not that kind of enemy, though he is friends with Coby). Oda-sensei doesn't want his main character to be ridiculously strong and he doesn't want his series to become boring and finish in a flash.

Yeah, I do wish I had a bit more tact back then. I had a lot of issues at the time and it came out a lot in my responses and posts on the web. I'm doin' my best to get better though and I do apologize for it, though it is still a bit silly. Art style is one of the main things that makes anime enjoyable for me and at times, the style something's drawn in will just turn me off. My preferred style to watch is the ones that get anatomy and shading almost perfect, where you can perfectly see them as human or alien or whatever they're being portrayed.
The anatomy of the characters in OP get too stretchy and just reminds me too much of art styles like Sonic or others like it. Growing up on the shows of CN, ABC and, at times, Disney, it's a bit twisted for me to say it, but I prefer my anime to be as close to realism as possible. Surreal-ness of course, with any anime, does come in at points, especially in over-exaggeration of posture or emotions, but its to be expected and welcomed once in a while. Its the Japanese. What more can be said.
As for the first, I'm very surprised by that. You've never heard of Fantastic Four? ^_- Come on now, you at least should know the movies, if not the comics that predated them. Mr. Fantastic who can stretch and contort himself into almost any shape, Thing, the big rock guy who smashes everything, The Human Torch who can light his entire body ablaze, shoot fire and fly? And the Invisible Woman, wife to Mr. Fantastic who can turn invisible at will and create force-fields? Really?
Here's a link. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasti…
By the way, the comic started in the 1960's. Television started running in the 1950's and the Fantastic Four's first appearance on TV was on ABC from September 9, 1967 to March 15, 1970. The second series ran from September 9, 1978, to December 16, 1978. The manga for OP started in 1997.
Not trying to say Oda ripped them off, not say that, but there are several heroes and media outlets that came out that were using the rubber thing after Mr. Fantastic, at least 30 years worth. It's hard to give him creative marks, no more then it would to say that most modern media today is original. It just ain't.

Well, I was actually quite hesitant to start OP at first solely because of the art. At that time, I was into sparkly shoujo mangas like Vampire Knight and Rockin' Heavin where the boys were all beautiful bishies and the girls all had huge eyes and were dead gorgeous. Okay, let me rephrase. A few years ago, I wouldn't touch OP with a 10 foot pole because of the art. I was even reluctant to try FT, which I deemed as mediocre when it came to the drawings (in which it isn't.) So the whole thing went on a while as I complained about its popularity. In the end, I gave in and decided to try it, and yes, I promptly fell in love with it. My point is that I literally forgot all about art styles and got sucked into the unique plot line, because that's what happens when you find a really well thought up story.
Additionally, the art after the timeskip isn't that bad at all. It's cleaner and clearer, the colours are brighter and it really isn't painful to watch or look at anymore.
And I still don't think there is a huge chance that Oda was influenced that much by the Fantastic Four. A lot of Asian families were living in poverty at that time; the probability he even had a TV isn't that high. Plus even if the rubber idea was inspired by Marvel, the plot is original, with Oda integrating ideas such as Devil Fruits into his manga.
Okay, it's time to go to bed for me its three in the morning… sorry if a lot of that didn't make sense or the arguments were crappy, I'm not a debater, I never take technicalities into consideration, and I can barely keep my eyes open. I just typed that in about 10 minutes lel sorry

GamerDruid In reply to ZoLu7 [2014-04-02 20:04:28 +0000 UTC]
Not a problem. It's not really that I'm saying he directly stole it, it's just hard for me to take rubber powers seriously, but then again, someone could turn right around on me for my love of characters with ice powers, so the argument is double-edged.
Maybe at some point I'll try my hand at it again. I didn't get very far on my first try so maybe in the future I'll do better, at the very least, come up with better points of criticism, if there are any. I have a dozen other things that I need to watch first x .x
Also, Vampire Knight was good, but I also dislike it when everyone is made plaster-beautiful. Not very realistic.

Yep. OP is pretty slow for the first 50 episodes, 100 maybe if you're a critic or what, but once you get into it it's enjoyable, even with the art. And then once you pass the timeskip that problem is solved too, even if the fight scenes and animation become a little stiff. I didn't want to watch Hajime No Ippo either because of the art, but once I watched most of the sport animes (KNB, POT, Area No Kishi, Major, Free!, Crossgame), I decided to try it and it seriously is reely good - I mean, not all animes can have graphics like KNB, Free! and Hamatora.
You're right about VK, but the art really is gorgeous. Same as Full Moon wo Sagashite, Gentlemens Alliance Cross, Kitchen Princess, Rockin' Heaven… Yep, I can go on and on with the shoujo mangas

I love anime in general. Naruto is a favorite of mine, true, but I am making my statements on an unbiased point, having watched a good portion of One Piece to know what's going on, finished Naruto, moving on to Shippuden, loved DB until GT and loved Bleach until the Fullbring arc. Calling me a Narutard is both unwitty and baseless.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do then deal with the peanut gallery.

Your points aren't unbiasedif you call it Crap-Piece and go on and on about how unoriginal and lame the series, and Luffy's powers are.

Not trying to disprove? Uh huh...that's totally why you called me a Narutard in the first place. You certainly didn't try, but the unscrupulous insults denotes that you do not agree with the points being made regardless. And just because I go on a rant, that mean's I'm biased? Do you understand what being biased means?
I've watched what I could stand from One Piece. I tried to like it a long time ago but, for the reasons above, I couldn't and I despise the reception it gets for no amicable reasons and it infuriates me more when retards say shit like Luffy could take down main characters from each show, when there's no possible way he ever could, more then half of the cast for every show having crippling powers that would rape Luffy inside of five minutes. I used several examples for comparisons between all three shows and I have stated that I do like Naruto, but it's not the only anime I watch or enjoy. I tried to enjoy One-Piece but it simply doesn't agree with me.
I don't even understand *where* you get off in saying I'm solely defending Naruto. Naruto has its own shit at times, as any anime does, One-Piece just happens to have more flaws that I abhor. I have used examples for DBZ and Bleach and while Naruto retained a good bulk, I'm not displaying retarded favoritism. The text you copied shows really nothing except my exceptional distaste for the show and my annoyance from the person who started this shit to begin with.
If I'm really a joke, then you're less the human; you're a monkey suffering from down syndrome who has the same chances in learning how to read as it does in being able to make a good argument with picking up its own turds and flinging it across the room. If you want to disprove me in what I say against One-Piece, instead of acting like an immature little shit who can only provide insults, go right ahead, give it your best shot. If not, kindly fuck off. I'm quite done with this page.

"If you want to disprove me in what I say against One-Piece, instead of acting like an immature little shit who can only provide insults, go right ahead, give it your best shot."
Hm. Please; don't be a hypocrite.
"If I'm really a joke, then you're less the human; you're a monkey suffering from down syndrome who has the same chances in learning how to read as it does in being able to make a good argument with picking up its own turds and flinging it across the room."
I don't care for insults; they're doing nothing for you but showcasing your lack of actual response. Keep em' coming, maybe one day they'll work.
Calling you a narutard means I want to disprove your points? No. In your post up there -- you were blatantly being a tard and a hater. Whether or not you've watched as much of the series as you could withstand is no concern of mine. Neither is the fact that it simply doesn't agree with you. One Piece isn't for everyone. I'm not going to try and shove my opinion down your throat, when obviously -- you disagree. You also apparently don't know the definition of biased.
Adj. 1. biased - favoring one person or side over another; "a biased account of the trial"; "a decision that was partial to the defendant"
Everyone is biased; we all have opinions and preferences. Please stop acting as if you don't.
Bleach was a side point; Naruto was a main. You strive no intelligent points; a majority of your rant is you raging and insulting things. I understand that you don't like One Piece. I understand that you prefer Naruto and Bleach. You need to understand that this picture was a joke. You need to understand that the author of the picture itself has said to not take it seriously. You need to understand that your personal preferences and feelings are not facts.
The power scale in the One Piece universe isn't as big as Naruto and Bleach's. Hax powers are kept to a minimum. One Piece doesn't have overly hyped up villains like Aizen and Madara who want to take over the world. And One Piece is only at it's half point meanwhile Naruto and Bleach are teetering on their ends in the next couple of years. Luffy is not fully developed power-wise, but he does have some aces up his sleeve.
"Put some genjutsu shit on Luffy and he would be screwed inside of ten seconds and against a person who wields a giant clever for a sword whom eradicates large patches of terrain in single swings and goes faster then sound, there's no way Luffy would win against any good character in either show. hmm... well, Naruto always depends on somebody to help him in battle. He's not alone, so he is rather dependent. Also, his father is famous and all that shit, so he was called a "hero" by everybody. While Luffy over there never meet his father. He was thrown into the jungle when he was barely five, and had to live independently and suffer through loss of his beloved brother and the people he loved. He also fights villains alone without some other ninjas and shits to cover him. And his head his wanted throughout the world, but he live with it, not go around and whining about changing fate and all that. And Naruto had Jiraiya to teach him for 4 -ing years, while Luffy only train with Rayleigh for a year and a half, but become so strong he defeated 5 thousands fishmen with a blink of the eye. Reason why is wrong because it isn't even a fact.
Do you really read the manga sales? Naruto,Bleach, hitman reborn and beezelbub sales some up to One Piece.
Face the facts the Japanese know whats good manga. Outside of it only inane individuals base it off the anime.

Oh shi- popular opinion! All of my arguments are suddenly invalid! Thank you SimonistheBeast! You and your badly cropped pokemon icon have shown me the error of my ways.

I like Bleach, I hate Naruto.
But God, One Piece wins it all. ♥
And I laughed so hard at the last part, about KH. XD <3
I once told my brother that Ichigo means Strawberry, and that Naruto's voice is made by an girl... He said to me that I've ruined two of his favorite series in less than a moment. So I told him to go watch One Piece, and he flipped me off. But he still comes to watch it when I'm watching it. XD
