They are such beautiful snakes though!! Yeah, tis a good thing to always watch where ya steping when hiking, although sometimes they do give ya a wee bit of warning

I prefer to find cute little ones like racers (which I spotted later in the same day) or little ring-necked snakes. Both these rattlesnakes showed up within half an hour and probably half a mile of each other. I do expect to encounter them in certain places but usually not two within a short span of time. Fortunately timber rattlers aren't aggressive and rarely bite.

Fortunately there are only two poisonous species around here and they're both more or less unmistakable. The rest may be big or little but they're all mostly harmless.
