Your shading always looks splendid!

Do you set the layer to anything special in order to achieve that natural, soft shading?

The shading is always set to multiply, but I used a soft airbrush to create the effect.
Though, for the highlights I just chose a lighter colour with the layer's setting on normal. Simple as that o;
