UPDATED: I first posted this about two months ago but after some advice I have went back into it and fixed up a few things, mainly the sheen of the water over his skin and the splashing water around him. To compare them you can see the original one here . I have also done a detail of his torso here , so you can get a better look at the tattoo and his face. I hope you like the update.This is the completed painting of Agasha Kenshin meditating under a waterfall, which was seen as a form of penance in ancient Japan. It was inspired by my earlier speed painting of the scene.
I set myself a number of challenges with this, namely the rendering of the skin and muscle, the water and the effects of the waterfall and his tattoo. I would love any suggestions on how to improve the work, as I hope to become a much better painter.
The only part of the work that was referenced is the tattoo as I wanted to have a really authentic looking Japanese tattoo. Its referenced off Miami Ink.

Thankyou. I have often tried to work on my style but it is one of those things that you just need to let happen or otherwise it looks forced. I think I am finally getting there however.

Is hard to find our own style as artist, (i don't know if i'd find it)
but when you see an artist that got his own is very easy to say:
"Oh, this drawing or deviation must be from...."
