Personality
Ori is a polite and friendly young woman, with a soft spoken voice.
She is hesitant with most of her actions, and will often freeze up like a deer in headlights when actions are sudden or require it. She relies solely on her Quirk for any kind of situation because of the ferocity and viciousness of how her Rose Monster gives off along with its many utilities.
She is insecure about her abilities to do much on her own, as well as having low-self esteem. She often tries to not show this and enjoys seeing everyone smile as she wouldn't want anyone else to feel sad or lonely. She bottles her emotions so she doesn’t have to express them to others, at least the negative ones anyway..
Despite being soft-spoken and often quiet, she is approachable and enjoys talking, including others in whatever she's doing, and engaging in conversations or whatever makes the others comfortable! However, she does not tolerate nonsense, lying, etc.
Ori is a people pleaser, focusing on the well-being and safety of others. She is a neat and orderly person, wanting to find control and organization with specific things. She is a loyal friend and hardworking, especially in projects she enjoys.
However, because of how insecure she is, she is often self-critical of herself. She let's stress and worry get to her often to the point that she sometimes forgets to enjoy herself.
Likes
Ori loves to be organized, she is a perfectionist, everything has to have a pair, and everything needs to be set in order.
She actually really likes the anime Sailor Moon, and loves other magical girl animes but Sailor Moon being her favorite. She has a collection of figurines in her room!
Her favorite thing to eat is spicy tuna uramaki.
She loves to paint, it’s a messy hobby but it’s fun for her to create art pieces, especially realism and painting still-life. She also secretly loves to draw her own characters for anime and fandoms that she’s a part of.
It’s strange but she’s always had a fascination with Mutations. She finds them to be unique but she understands that not everyone likes their Mutations.
Dislikes
Ori does not like being told what to do, as she is (or at least tries to be) self aware. She knows what she needs to do and doesn’t need to be reminded of it.
Winter. It’s a very dangerous season for plants as well as the roses on her head. She gets sick much more easily in
this environment.
Disorganization.
Opening up to people about her feelings, she’s only done it once but felt as though she was a burden on them. She’s able to open up to others that she has full trust in but it’s still something she has trouble with.
Fears
Dipsophobia, she gets anxious around alcohol and people who are drinking.
Habits
Ori is a pollo pescetarian, she does not eat red meat or pork.
Because of how her Quirk works, when under stress, Ori will start to pull her hair out, avoiding her roses though.
Strengths
Her Quirk can be considered a strength considering it is quite powerful.
She is incredibly loyal to those that are her friends/those that show care for her.
She’s aware of the dangers other can hold towards her and others, even though she’s a people pleaser, she knows that not everyone is a good person/has good intentions/can be redeemed.
She is a logical person that tries to think of plans before anything else.
Weaknesses
Ori is not fluent in Japanese, she is still learning, which leaves her vulnerable to miscommunication as well as learning incorrect words with the “help” of her classmates.
Winter is hard on her immune system, she always gets sick if she does not prepare for the cold.
Eating unhealthy foods and not drinking a certain amount of water will make her sick as well.
In dire or stressful situations/sudden situations, she will often freeze up or use her Quirk right away as a defense mechanism.

Backstory
Ori is the youngest child of Malcolm and Elsa Rivera, they lived in New Jersey, where her mother was a hero known as Flower Woman, and her father was a marine biologist. Her father was always away on travel while her mother was home only when there wasn’t crime to be dealt with. Thankfully, Ori’s eldest sister was old enough to take care of them while her parents worked.
They were no strangers to moving locations because of her father’s profession, they were often moving back and forth from east to west coast, and vise versa. However, there came a strain on the family when her father was required to go to Japan for business, and despite Ori’s mother not wanting to move overseas, they did. This put a damper on Ori and her sisters as they not only had to learn basic Japanese, but they had lost whatever relationships they made in order to move.
Since then, the strain on the parents’ relationship worsened; there would be constant arguments over the littlest things, coming home late as well as starting to find unhealthy means of coping with the growing disdain for each other.
A divorce was inevitable after Ori’s father was caught in an affair with one of his co-workers. This separation really put a wedge between them and their children. Who only had each other at this point as they detached themselves from their parents after a while.
The divorce hit their mother harder than expected atop of being a hero, she started to take her frustrations out on her daughters, verbally berating and belittling them whenever she could, the only time she didn’t was when she woke them up in the mornings.
Sadly, this problem led to her drinking before and during work, which ultimately led to her demise as she tried to recklessly stop a heist. Ori’s father wanted to take the girls in but his affair partner, who later became his wife before his ex-wife’s death, did not want children. She did not want to take in the responsibility of four girls of varying ages as well as sharing finances. So, he chose his new and shiny wife over his children, which resulted in them separating into different foster homes.
During this time and while her parents were still together, going through the struggles, Ori would secretly use her Quirk in her room. Plucking the roses from her head and create (at first) a small Rose Monster that she would talk to and make move around like a puppet. This was a form of coping that she would do for years to feel like she had some kind of control in her life when she didn’t have something to organize.
For the longest time, Ori resented everything; her parents, her father’s new wife, anything that she could. Her only support system, her sisters, were gone, and she was just so alone and felt as though she had no control over her life. She felt broken and insecure about not only herself but whatever she liked or did. A lot of foster homes were hit and miss with her as she grew older until she was fostered by a man named Kai Onishi.
This man showed concern for her well-being and instead of trying to get her to open up to him or completely ignoring her, he allowed her to let him in when she felt ready. He always showed that he was there for her and cared for her, and was patient with her during her troubling times or even her breakdowns when she couldn’t hide her emotions any longer. It took Ori a long time but she slowly started to regain joy in the things she once liked that her mother ridiculed her over. She started to watch Sailor Moon again and even start to paint, which she wasn’t good at first but with practice, she started to grow. And she knew it was thanks to Kai’s encouragement and patience with her.
Ori continued her connection with her siblings only to have learned that some of them had moved on with their lives after leaving the system with their new families. They all still talk to each other every night and even get together on occasion. They even started to give her advice on opening up to her adoptive father. Eventually, her sisters decided to return to the states and asked if she wanted to come with them, to which, she refused to.
When she had finally confided in Kai the resentment she held for her parents and what they had put her and her sisters through, having no concern or thought into how even moving to Japan would affect them and everything leading up to the demise of her mother. Kai sat there and listened. Eventually, Ori had expressed that when she was younger, she wanted to be a hero just like her mother, she thought it was “so cool” how she would save people and be there for those in need but now she changed her mind, she wanted to finish middle school and try out for UA High School to become the hero that her mother couldn’t be.
Quirk Info
Quirk
Rose Monster
SHORT: The user plucks a rose from their head which mutates into a rose-like monster with thorns and a sharp-toothed mouth that the user can control as an offensive/defensive unit.
-
LONG: The user’s internal structure is similar to that of a plant with their primary function being that their stomach acid is made up of fertilizer as well as their veins and arteries being similar to roots.. Flowers- more specifically, roses- sprout from atop of the user’s head.
When a rose is plucked from the head of the user, the user is able to mutate the DNA structure of the roses. These mutations usually result in the rose growing in not only size but also twisted, long stems that are covered in thorns. The pistil of the rose is replaced with a bulb that has a mouth with numerous teeth inside it.
The user has full control of the rose monster.
