Alex is a friendly sort of person, finding enjoyment in socializing with others and sharing what he's discovered while scavenging. He has the most fun, though, mixing and testing his own dynamite, which comes in very handy when clearing debris and finding ways into the buildings he explores. He has a habit of running on impulse, which usually leads to a new bruise or two - especially considering how out in the buildings his first impulse is quite frequently "Can I blow this up?"

His gear includes his backpack, goggles, and a pair of prototype hover shoes, invented and given to him by Dr Gene Hawkins. He needed a way to get around the city that wouldn't be a fire hazard like the jetpacks, and Dr Hawkins had the shoes. Unfortunately, she lost her notes on construction in The Switch, and they are (currently) the only pair. It's also worth noting that having the shoes puts him at the least risk of falling to his demise should he slip off a walkway, which hasn't helped the whole "is cocky and impulsive" thing.

Alex prefers to go scavenging by himself, if only for the fact that having another person with him means that they could potentially get injured in an explosion, or lose their footing when trying to follow him into areas without pre-made walkways. While he may do things that put himself into risky situations, he would feel completely terrible if someone else were to get hurt because of his actions. (He also doesn't like people going into the place he mixes dynamite in when he's not there - he isn't exactly the neatest worker, and there's too much potential hazard.)

He doesn't like talking about his life pre-Switch. When asked, he'll dodge the question and change the subject. Others have been able to glean a few things from him with casual conversation - he had lived with his dad, he wasn't very good at school - but not much else. No one has found it necessary to push him on the subject.

(i've left it open in case anyone wanted to use it to their advantage plot-wise. Is his dad still around? Would there be any reason he doesn't like takling about it? WHO TAUGHT THIS KID HOW TO MIX DYNAMITE?? Up to you, really.)
