So... this is cannon in the world of Google Doodle. I've been playing the heck out of Doodle's Champion Island Game, and I loved every single bit of it. Clearly, the team had put a lot of effort into the Doodles in the last few years. In fact, the Halloween Magic Cat Academy was the second game that I played on the browser. The game wasn't the first fully pledged game but it has certainly created a wave of fans for it.

Then there was Halloween's Great Ghoul Duel which was the first multiplayer interactive game to be made as a Doodle. They made more of an effort for this specific day. Maybe they just think that Halloween is neat.
