Btech character that I was screwing about with. The pipes are made of heavy metal, and I liked the idea that he could snap the pipes closed, and then beat the shit out of people with them like they were a couple of ball-peen hammers.In this day and age, though, can you still have a character that smokes? Even Wolverine put out his cigars... Nick Fury gave up the stogies... I don't even think J.J.J still smokes. If I used this character in a popular medium, I'd catch flak for sure.
And a fighting character who's always chimneying... he'd have lung problems, which would affect his athleticism, right? I try to keep it somewhat real... but I just liked the idea of those pipes spinning around in his fingers, trailing smoke and smackin' down fools.
What's he smokin' there? Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies.

Perhaps his smoking is like the drinking of a practitioner of Zui Quan; real users of "drunken fist" don't really drink much at all, because if you tried to perform the art's complex movements while actually inebriated, you'd kick your own ass more often than not. Perhaps the Smoker doesn't really smoke, but he'd like you to think he does. I could easily visualize a fantasy martial art form that uses clouds of smoke as a way to mask movements and disorient foes.
Plus, let's be real here: he looks completely boss with two pipes, and that matters most of all.

he's smoking a magical purple substance that increases his strengty, speed, agility, and heightens his senses. Unfortunately it heightens his eyesight a bit too much, hence the shades....

righteous. It may be two years old, but still awesome linework, shading, etc. There might be a little something up w/ his right elbow, but other than that I love it and the idea as a character... & I'd say bollocks to whoever complained.

Ya know I love the whole idea. He could always be like an ex-Prez, who didnt inhale, but what would be the point then. But overall cool idea. How about a second one of him maybe bashing on someone with one while still tokin on the other.

well hellboy still smokes and no one knows why the bat cave smells like weed but i gues we know now why batman doesn't always catch the joker.

Just recappin through your gallery...yeah i gotta agree everyone is so against smoking in art and stuff that you'll often get that comment on being PC.....i recently drew my character smoking,i believe it fits his look but i bet i'll get 'those' comments.

I've drawn two that were unpublished, for other people. One was pretty good, because I had talented help, and one was embarrasingly awful, because I did it all myself.
Hard lessons learned there.
I may have something else lined up as a short project with the animation studio I work for, but that's still very tentative. And I'm working on my own property, but I'm painfully slow at it.

Everyone is healthy obsessed these days. I don't smoke but I dunno what i'd do without my carbs. 
Great pic, Inky! I love the character design and his pose is oh so very relaxed. Makes me calm just looking at it. The smoke is my favorite part though. You gave so much... life... to it. I would LOVE to see more of this fellow.

And here's some random trivia about smoking...
If you stay active and you smoke, SUPPOSEDLY the activity is known to cut down on the negative effects of smoking such as the hardening of the lungs, as well as reduce the cravings for nicotine.
.....Me, who neither smokes nor exercises can not be 100 percent sure about the data...
Any way, you should check into it, because it would be a waste to throw away such a neat character concept

Just screwing-around pages. Nothing real, nothing sequential, nothing that actually tells a story.
I have a mental block about comics that I'm still working around. I feel that I need to understand what I'm going to do before I do it, and the problem is that I'm trying to understand a LOT. I often think that I ought to quit worrying about it and just do it, and accept that the early pages will probably contain a lot of mistakes as I learn, but just thinking that doesn't actually set pencil to paper for more than a few pages.
*sigh*
I'll get it. I haven't given up, I'm just obsessed with making something that I can feel proud of (which unfortunately isn't the same thing as making something that others think you should feel proud of... but it probably ought to be).

Just maybe work up a short story involving your characters, but that doesn't necessarily need to be a pivotal part of the overall story. Then, you might not feel so attached to that, and it would serve as a good practice step into jumping on the actual main one. Just a suggestion. Good luck with it all.
