there's some Spider-Man and a bit of other stuff buried here and there. I'm big into comics, but not so big into superheroes.

That's actually a very interesting comment to make. I hope you don't mind answering, but which comics are you big on?

I'm hot for a bunch of different indie titles like King City and Wonton Soup, and I like mainstream non-superhero titles like Fables or The Walking Dead. I read a lot of Japanese titles, anything with tight art and well-drawn action usually catches my eye. I do read a couple superhero books, Powers and Invincible in particular...
I prefer books that have a consistent creative team behind them. With most books, the time I want to invest in them is usually in direct relation to how interested I am in the work of the creators, rather than any sense of allegiance to the title itself.

What would you like to see in a Supergirl picture?
Seeing as how I love the humor aspect....These two inept goons kidnap Linda Lang (the current Supergirl's secret identity which is just her wearing glasses) to blackmail her aunt, Lana Lang. There's an annoyed Linda gagged and bound to a chair with these two applying the ropes. Linda's thought balloon shows an image of Supergirl smashing their faces together. The title? "The Moment Their Backs Are Turned..."

Nice work, Ink. Very solid. It's nice that you still post on Penciljack. You're one of the few pros that I still see posting art on there.
By the way, your style reminds me of a style I've seen before but I can't quite remember. Maybe it'll come to me someday.

I'm wondering, would taking a gunshot to the head give her whiplash?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Inkthinker In reply to kilian777 [2010-03-12 08:05:24 +0000 UTC]
Nah, not if we follow the rubber-band analogy (that a gunshot even at close range hurts about as much as a rubber band. Stings like a bitch, but that's about it).
And if you go by the most recent movie, I don't even think it's that effective. I mean, he takes a round in the eye without blinking, that kind of implies it's more like a puff of air. But I guess if he clutched his eye and was all, "AOOOWW, DUDE!! SSSSSSSSS! AAAAOOOOWWWW!! Shit HURTS, asshole! What the EFF?" then the character would lose some of his mystique.

You have a point. Perhaps it would be more whiplash-inducing with a tank cannon round or something

super girl or "women" never grabbed me and shout at me "LOOK AT ME! IM MORE THEN BOOBS AND MINI SKIRTS!"
because honestly thats all she seemed like. Although Power girl is TEN TIMES better and she's like a another "world/clone" super girl.
how can your copy be better then the original?! I guess they can.
anyways LOVE THIS! i laughed.. that evil look she's shooting at the robber and his " Opps! well, hey! would you believe that was a mistake?!" look is pricless!

I think her reaction read perfectly fine, and you did a great job portraying it. I especially like how the robber she's holding up is gonna try and cap her while her attention was diverted. Your clean lines always get me!!! How do you get em so clean?!?

Inkthinker In reply to Tongman [2010-02-07 10:11:27 +0000 UTC]
A lot of my technique, such as it is, is rooted in the days when I used Microns and Rapidographs on bristol board. I use Manga Studio and a Cintiq now, but the methodology is largely the same.
Manga Studio is a bitmap canvas; all the pixels are either black or white, nothing else, which makes it literally as sharp as possible. Past that, digital "inking" allows for an almost infinite degree of control... if I lay down a line I don't like, I just Undo it and lay it down again. This lets me be really loose with what's normally a tightly controlled media.

Tongman In reply to Inkthinker [2010-02-10 04:15:47 +0000 UTC]
Are you messing with me!? You do the ctrl+Z and restroke thing too?? Despite my use of it, I've always felt that was kind of a taboo technique for some reason.
On the bitmap note, I tried using squared/sharp-edged brushes in Photoshop to mess around with some line art and it doesn't do such a bad job either. Just an observation I thought might be relevant. If not then bleh. Keep up the awesome work! =oD
