Using the gradient method of coloring I see?

I'm not saying it's bad to use this kind of coloring, heck some of my friends are still using it.

But if you want to learn a proper lighting, you might want to consider trying out a cell shade type of coloring. It's those which you usually see in anime or cartoons, those with blocked shadows and highlights.

Why? because that way you can determine where the lighting came from and where is the shadows easily.

As you can see in this drawing it's not clear where the lighting is from. I can see one coming from her tummy, and the other one coming from the ground.
