Description just a bit of a thought process that went into this one,
it strikes me as odd that in post apocalyptic movies like mad max, vehicles that run on petrol are so prevalent even though they are 40 or 50 years into an apocalypse where modern industry is unavailable. petrol itself unlike canned foods and such has actually got a very short shelf life it becomes useless after a year or so,
so when looking at a world without rule of law and without modern industry, those rad motorcycles and armoured cars, as cool as they are would not be available for very long post disaster. of course there are alternative fuels and the use of steam power which for other post apocalyptic scenarios may be viable, but for mine, protect and survive which is set 40 years after the great nuclear war of '83, such methods would not be viable as in this barren world, nuclear summer renders the growing of crops futile, which cancels out alternative biofuels and larger herd animals have been rendered extinct in the northern hemisphere due to fallout and the devastation of crops during the nuclear winter which happened prior to nuclear summer, ( which is basically the theory that nuclear weapons would rip a hole in the ozone layer which would turn the northern hemisphere into a dry barren wasteland, the midday sun would blister your skin, possibly blind you and cause melanoma)
so that cancels out the use of horses for transport.
so of course steam power may be possible but it requires a lot of knowhow and may only be possible for some of the larger factions, not small raider parties.
so the only real means of common transport would be bicycles.
bicycles are simple, easy to maintain and quite readily available.
imagine these raiders rolling up on you on a BMX, ready to run you down with a sharpened bit of Rebar.
I don't know why it's ever really been done for any post-apocalyptic story, to have gangs of motorhead raiders riding bicycles but man seems fitting for an apocalypse set in London,
so anyway here's my sketch of the concept
the first thing I learned when drawing this is that bikes are a nightmare to draw
but glad I managed to pull it off
