Description The La Plata mountains in southwestern Colorado are (to my advantage) quite overlooked as a mountain range in the San Juans. While most people favor the 14,000 ft+ peaks in the Weminuche and other wilderness areas, the La Platas, while only reaching a few hundred feet over 13,000 ft at their highest point, are equally amazing and only 20 miles from my home.

I never saw, nor heard, another person on this entire backpacking trip.

Amazing colors and gorgeous landscape! I love the size of the moon in the sky and the red and orange colors brought out in the mountains. It almost looks like science fiction. Great job!
