Description This photo was taken on Cabo da Roca, near Sintra - Portugal. I had just travelled through the Serra de Sintra, a bit frustrated with the lack of good light for photography, and was already coming back by a road near the coast, when I saw something I had never seen in this area. There was this huge tapestry of clouds, about 50 metres above the sea, covering everything till infinity. As the road was about 100 metres high, I could watch this wonder from above, and it seemed that I was on a 3000 meter high landscape. I don't know how to physically explain this phenomena. but it sure looked surreal and magnificiently beautiful. Since Cabo da Roca was very near, I quickly headed there, and took some photographs. Unfortunately, Cabo da Roca was almost at the same level as the clouds, so I couldn't capture the huge depth of field of the clouds. I used a 3 stop ND Grad to be able to expose the direct sunlight, and saturated this photo quite a bit in post-processing. If you look carefully, you'll be able to see the sea in the lower left corner.

And now, be my guest and take the two steps towards the gods...

I would really like to see something like this. Atleast you have gotten to see it and took a remarkable picture from what you saw.

I don't know that much about critizising photographs etc. but this certainly makes me feel above the clouds.

Thank you.

Don't worry about not knowing how to technically criticize photos... as long as you felt something strong with it, my mission was acomplished.

a friend of mine, trashlight13, came into school the other day RAVING about some-guy-on-deviantart's landscapes and although she was aware that i didn't have any particular interest in landscapes (i've always found them rather boring), that i would appreciate his.

and she was right. :] +favourites

how did you get that effect, by the way? i've seen similar photos, but you got the glow just right... amazing.

Wow! This is beautiful. I would love to have been there, it looks like it would have been a strange feeling indeed.
I love the yellow tone, which is odd because usually I feel that a yellow haze takes away from a photograph, but this is such a deep colour! I also really like how you can see the ocean in the corner, gives it some more depth, and makes it unique because usually you would take photographs like this in the mountains.
Love it
