This is the last of my GOT portraits. (Well for a while at least) Seemed fitting to paint Jon for the Grande Finale as DA just can't get by these days without another Jon Snow and a few more ponies.
Still experimenting. This time I really only sketched and began in gray scale, then proceeded to color instead of just jumping right in there. It's very loose and I'm not sure if I like it or not yet, I still have so much more to learn about PS and all of it's magical powers. I'll need to experiment more and try some bolder lighting next time.

This is some kick-ass Jon Snow right there! Love the beard, his expression, the lighting turned out very nicely, too. I think you might have overused that textured brush on his right cheek a little, it doesn't really blend into his skin and draws the eye a bit too much, imho. I'd have tried to lightly paint over it with a round brush, just to subdue the effect a tiny bit.
A very very nice artwork, you did an amazing job on the likeness. And of course, it's handsome Kit, so who am I to criticise this

Thanks Tinnu! Yeah, I see what you mean, the texture brushes are really hard to control. They seem to follow an underlying texture rather that the strokes applied. So many little things to look out for. I maybe should have put this one on a back burner and looked at it with fresh eyes before posting.... I think that your suggestion of using a soft brush to subdue it could be quite helpful Thanks!
I guess I was concentrating more on bringing the piece from gray scale to color using multiply layers and whatnot to really zone in on the initial problem areas.... Looking back, there are a few....

HOW I do it would take many lines.... In truth, I'm not even sure I'm doing it right at the moment. The WHY I do it is easy to answer however. 2 more smiles added to the stats for August 26, 2014
