The chipmunk smiled timidly, uttering a jasmine scented `thank you` before she scurried off into the rain.

While I know these are chipmunks, this reminded me of the story "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse". When I was a kid we had chipmunks all over the yard. They would eat the seeds from the birdfeeder. We always called them "chichimoco". I think it is the Spanish word?
