I agree with you that Ai is one of the most beautiful anime I have seen in a while. I saw your painting and have to say I was impressed with how you created her. The clothes and hair are perfect however I am not a fan of the eyes. I know she has deep red eyes but they were only around her corneas. To me this seems a bit more scary than beautiful, kind of more demoed like than lost sole. Although I am a fan of this painting it really did catch my eye when it came up. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the critique, it's much appreciated .
I intended this to be a more creepy rather than beautiful piece, which is why I fashioned the eyes as they are here. I meant for her to look innocent yet haunting, but I can see why one would find them disturbing. Thank you again for the critique, wish you all the best .

Been forever since I watched this, but this is beautiful I like the eyes like they, but I agree with about how the hair could have been a bit more realistic,.
But this is still awsome

Thank you! I didn't really know how to shade hair very realistically then, I agree the hair does look flat
I hope I can improve more on that, thank you for the encouragement!

I'm here on behalf of because your piece was in the group's critique requested folder.

I like the wrinkle details on the kimono, and how you drew the white lines to show the lighting. The dim lighting froHm behind the figure, the crayon(?) like coloring, and the black background gives the character a subtle spooky feel. (which I assume is what you intended.)
The hair could have been a bit more realistic if you had draw them in chunks, since in real hair usually stick together due to static electricity. And you could have blurred the top of the head to more black(by, for example, drawing more thicker), so the skull doesn't appear. Finally, you could have drawn the outline of the eyes more darker to distinguish it more from the face in general. (Unless that was what you were intending to do, in which case you gave it a more creepy feel)
Overall, nice work. Wish I could draw like you (especially the coloring)!

Thank you very much for the critique!
I agree about the hair; I've never drawn this kind of hair before, so I agree it could use some work. My comp's resolution is quite low generally so I couldn't quite see the lightness of the head until I viewed it from another screen.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it .

The lighting on both her clothes and hair look awesome (I especially -love- how you drew her hair) This is a new type of eyes, this time. If I may be perfectly honest, I prefer the eyes you've drawn in the past (e.g. that awesome fateastray piece hehe) ..I find that these take up a little too much space in the face, like a fish-bowl lens effect, but the face doesn't have it. I like the shading and you have a very distinct style. :]

Thanks, you have a pretty awesome yourself!
About the ginormous eyes lol: I had to make them like this because the eyes I normally do didn't fit with the original character's design [link] one of her distinct features in the anime are her unusually round, large eyes, so I tried incorporating that into my pic.
Admittedly, she did end up looking a bit haunted, but oh well, she was fun to draw.

SKip 'em all the time Okay, I understand, it's the character. Since you're using layers now, you can see what she looks like with your usual style, right? Maybe that works for the character, as well. The benefits of painting digitally..

I did try several other types of eyes for her before choosing this one including my own styles, and none of the others really worked for the pic, so I'm kind of stuck with these for now.. Thing is, I needed her to look childlike but mature, a near impossible feat with my 'cutsey' style.
I do understand where you're getting at though, I'm not used to drawing such large eyes either. Frankly, they're kind of creeping me out XD

At least she's not green with see-through skin and bolts in her neck. Seriously, why did the guy put BOLTS in his creation's NECK? Could he not think of anywhere less creepy?

I just looked up pics from the movie.... he looks more like a hunchback assistant in those old horror classics than Frankenstein's Monster.

He portrays him a lot better than you might think! I dunno, I actually switched the channel sometime during the movie. I don't remember why, anymore, but it just shocking O_x

I'm sure he PLAYS the part ell (c'mon, he's Robert DeNiro), it's just, I'm not used to seeing Frankenstein's Monster portrayed by someone in The Godfather's cast list XD
