Description This project was done last semester... I never had the opportunity to submit it with all the extra things going on at the time. With the end of the semster however, I am procrastinating by putting it all together. This was not actually my presentation boards, but rather pages from the portfolio I had made. Now getting to the project... (project put together in sketchup, autocad, and photoshop)
-----------------------------------------------------
(Also written on page 11)
This project was for a Cancer Research Institute in Mannhattan, NY, along Beaver and South William St. The Insitute works towards raising funds for cancer research and awareness, and this particular project will also have a residential component to it. The building could potentially pay for itself with single bedroom and studio apartments available - especially in that area. When I first began brainstorming about this project, I thought about the people working, living, and visiting here. The person working here is not doing it for the sake of money but for the more benevolent reasons, he or she is giving there time in the fight to find a cure. They might find themselves working late into the night, and I do not want them to loath their environment but be able to relax. I feel the garden is the perfect place to recieve these workers so they can take a moment to relax and breathe. The person living here I forsee being someone that will not be spending most their day in the building, but rather out and about using the apartment as a place to merely rest their head. However, they too will occupy the garden/cafe area from time to time. For the visitor, the building is a beacon for people stricken with cancer and those wanting to take up the fight. The visitor’s first impression should be one of life - to see this building growing, breathing, and shining bright. For all these reasons, I see the garden/lobby area being the center of focus - allowing for a place for these three different groups to intermingle and become the life force driving the building.

Greetings,
This is a massive work. I'm in this community for 4 years already and I was wondering if there were any Architectural designers... well I found you.

This is impressive. Superb job.
I'm currently studying political science and I am on my last year but I always wanted to study Architecture and I always wanted to create projects just like this one.

I still have the passion inside me and I'll probably start Architecture in some years.

I love what you've done here, I love your project and I really want to learn a lot from you.

take care.
Alessio

wow, i'm blown away how simply logical the whole idea is, not to mention how amazing the building is.

This is probably one of the best boards I have seen on DA. By far, truely exceptional. The model was done in gorgeous craft, the images are lovely and funny enough my favorite part is your abstract interpertation in the beginning of the board on the right corner. The only thing I found critique worthy was the section cut seems to be off level with the other drawings but thats me being way to anal. Well done.

why thank you... i appreaciate the comments! The section was done in autocad while the building elevations were done in sketchup, so it was difficult scaling them correctly (no reason not to be anal in a presentation). GET THAT HOTEL UP! looking forward to seeing it.
