Description May 25 2012: OMG I got my first DD!!! I still can't believe it!!

I finally did it!

This beauty is Odin. In his younger life he had to go through a lot of abuse which reached a sad height when his eye was shot out with a pellet gun.

Now he is with and enjoys his new life!

When I first saw this in my favorites, I decided to check it out since I was bored. I thought "Wow! What a beautiful photo" before I read the critiques and comments. Soon I realized that it was a drawing and my reaction was a jaw-dropping "This is a drawing?! WHAT?!" because it looks so real. I looked at the picture of the cat that you decided to draw and your beautiful drawing looks very much like the original photo. Nice job on drawing Odin. You have done an impressive job on the texture of his fur and on his eye. I feel like this lovely cat is staring right at me. The portrayal of this unique beauty is awesome and you deserved that DD for a good reason.

Tsk, tsk... now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find whoever did this heinous crime to the poor animal so I can murder him/her/them.

I hope that you like this critique and that you understood what I just typed right here. Sorry, I'm a little self-conscious when it comes to my English (even though I'm born in the US and have been living there for my whole life).
Hopefully I didn't rate this too high or too low

This has to be one of the most instense and eye-catching drawings I've seen. First, because it obviously doesn't show what people tend to see as conventional beauty, and I consider someone who draws anything that goes out of our beauty standards - doesn't matter if the model/subject of the drawing is a human being or an animal - a brave and challenging artist. This shows the fragility of life and the strenght of animals. It's so detailed that It's hard to belive it only took 11 hours to draw this, even zooming in you can thi8nk it's a photograoph and see you put alot of effort on doing his fur - which looks extremely realistic. His eye looks so shining and real, and the reflection of light in his pupil is fantastic. The details on his nose are also great. And the greatest of this is that the cat is indeed still gorgeous and there's a story behind this, which makes this a real masterpiece. And even considering you used a photo as a reference, you still deserve 5 stars on originality(an of course everything else) for challenging yourself to draw an animal that's still beautiful in an unconventional way.

Hello, I decide to write a critique, because, this is one of my favourites atworks. your drawing is very moving, this is for me a definition of the beauty even if this cat is wounded, he was always beautiful, the beauty is inside not the external physical and I found this cat still beautifu, cute. we must love animals, even if it is wounded. Your drawing and the photography denounces the suffering you are doing to the animals, the wickness of people. I like the expression of the cat, it is expressive, almost human, we can see a bit of suffering but also it is very living, a fight against the wounds, the suffering. a wonderful message of life. your drawing seems real like a photo, his fur his very well drawn.
I hope that my critique is fair and my english not very bad, thank you for this amazing drawing.

This is marvelous~ This cat is very lucky to be alive~ He is indeed still beautiful, and this piece of artwork very well portrays his beauty. The background matches him very well, and shows him up nicely. I love this very much~ The texture of this piece adds character to this animal. the fur has great detail, and the background really expresses the feeling in this picture. I think the title of this picture is very moving, and suits the mood very well. There is a lot of depth in this piece, the color scheme adds to the impact very nicely. good job on this piece.I'm in love with it.

Wow. This looked like a photograph in the thumbnail! This is a fabulous pastel portrait. As a cat lover, I have found that cats have emotions and that you can read their facial expressions just like you can read a person's. Here, I feel he is saying "I may have been through tough times, but I WILL persevere. My scars make me more beautiful, not less." His expression really captured my heart. I was going to say that you could make his right side more fur-like, more texture, but now that I look at it more, I feel that was intended. It looks like the portrait is more crisp and textured in the center and then blurs a bit around the edges which helps us focus more on his eye and wounds. I also agree that the eye looks ridiculously real. Very nice work. I am a person who usually "favs and runs", but I just had to let you know how I felt about your work. This was my very first critique. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Before I clicked on this deviant, I thought it was just some picture. I soon then realized that what I was clicking on was one of the best works I've ever seen in my life. You've blended the colors just perfectly, the fur on the cat makes me want to just feel its head (even though its on the computer, but you get my drift.) My favorite part of this is the eye, which makes the painting more realistic. I can't imagine how long it took to get it to how it was, but it must have been worth the patience. Overall, I'm just awed at this wonderful artwork. Keep up the excellent work, can't wait to see more!! ^^

The realistic features are amazing and seeing the material you use my jaw dropped. Only a few people can make this drawing this awesome. I feel really bad for Odin..but at least he's OK and has a new loving family.

animals are one of the most beautifulest creatures left on this sad world
The only thing that will make us have pure joy in life
Animals will always love you if you love them back

thank you for making this <3 I'm really glad Odin has a happy home and lives the rest of his life with his new master.

When I first saw this, I honestly thought this was a photo. The detail is beyond amazing, it makes me want to hug this kittye.deviantart.net/emoticons/m/m… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Meow :3"/> Also, just looking at this, I can feel Odin's sorrow, and all the abuse that he went through. I know this sounds strange, but I can relate to him; I've had my share of sorrow. I'm relieved to know that's he's doing a lot better nowe.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> This photo looks like the kind of picture hanging in an art shop, in my opinion. I just think that this looks wonderful, adorable, and meaningful, and that you deserved that DD 100%!

Well... my first critique!

First, I think this is a nice piece. When you see this image for the first time, you can see an injured animal that makes you feel the tragedy that his live have been, and what kind of torture has he lived. But then, you look at his eye and get charmed by the strength and pride that this little tiger has inside. You actually made a great on it, beacause you give emotions to a being who can't show them with his face and that you are not seeing at the moment. You gave words to this animal to tell us his story, so, that's just amazing! I think I speak for nearly everybody when I say that we felt different sensations when we looked at this.

Second, the technique. I'm not a good artist, but I think your technique is brilliant. That eye seems to be real. The way you did the whiskers, not perfect and straight, yet bent and with different colors.

After this, I only want to wish you the best, and hope to see more works from you. You really have talent!

This is a magnificent piece of art, the technique is perfectly done. So much so that I thought it was a photograph at first! It looks incredibly realistic which helps to portray the true harshness of animal cruelty. The title fits perfectly with the picture as well. As soon as I saw this picture I felt a deep sorrow for the animal and the horror it has had to go through in its life. After reading the description I felt a deep anger towards animal abusers, which was surely the purpose of your work. You have achieved your goal of opening people's eyes to the horror of animal cruelty and for that I gave you your score.

Overall, I believe this is an extremely well done work, not only because of its quality and realism, but also for the theme used.
I'm really impressed because this is hand-made, which it's perfect for transmitting those feelings and everything that little Odin has been through (when I saw this, I went "awww"e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>) and it's as well very touching because he looks so real!
From all the comments I've read, you surely have made an impact on everybody; you don't see this kind of art everyday, and it also makes you think about animals and the rights they also have.
Finally, it gives a very deep vision that certainly goes beyond art, and makes you be aware of this awful scenes such as animal cruelty.
Nothing further to say, just keep up your excellent work!e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
