If you don't mind a darker story, I suggest reading the Trigun manga as well. It is still just as funny, but the general mood is closer to the second half of the anime. Probably my favorite manga series!

There is a duplicated layer with gaussian blur set on a % of screen layer effect. You can go with Color Dodge or Lineart Dodge depending on the effect you want. Hope this helps!
