I don't think it's a good idea to center a photograph and particularly if it's a straight on head and shoulders shot. There isn't a lot intriguing here. A bleach blond with blue eyes. I wonder how often that happens. It is a mystery why this gets so many fav's. Perhaps people find the subject appealing but we aren't bridging any gaps into art here. On the positive side, you picked a nice model and the background is nicely subdued. Looks like you have some pretty good equipment. I think we aren't clued in on any personality though. It's a straight photograph. You did good with that.

I think in this case, centering the model worked well since she's looking head on to the camera. I tried "cropping" bit but didn't come out with anything better. In general though, de-centering with rule of thirds is a great technique. Just dont think in this case it would have done much.

You're right. It probably couldn't be more than what it is. It's a pretty girl that gets attention. That's not so bad. Your photography on the other hand is incredible. You should be sporting 2000+fav's.

Ahh the 5dMark II is a beautiful camera is it not?
along with a 200mm at 2.8 you have some killer bokeh here and isolation.

I really like what you have done with the colors and processing they have a smooth pastel feel to them and have a hint of retro but are not over saturated like so many portraits on deviant art are.

A few nitpicks since you are asking for them, I feel that the models pose is so-so, maybe if the shoulder was more angled and she was looking to the side a bit more, or just the opposite, or maybe its the curve of the back shoulder that appears lazy to me...I cant quite it but something about the pose conveys it to me. I really do like however the way her hair falls down between her face with just a hint in front of her eyes, i love it when girls do that.

As far as composition, be sure to shoot a touch wide to give you room to crop in post especially with 22 million pixels at your disposal. I feel like the photo is a touch centered for a horizontal layout, moving her to either side but in particular the left would be great....Or try a portrait crop youve got gobs of resolution to do it with e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

All in all a great picture that invites warm happy thoughs in me and is the type of photo that someone looks at and thinks...I wish she was looking at ME that way e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

Whoa her eyes are so much more amazing than in the other picture.......
This one looks more like one of the little snapshots you take in a shooting, but nevertheless it's as adorable as the other ones from Paula.
Her little smile is ADORABLE, she just looks like she could be a real best friend, someone you can trust in and love until death (you know what i mean haha)... like a true and honest girl.
Her hair color is amazing and i love the blue and blurred background. Awesome piece you made here. Colors are incredibly perfect.

xoxo, bine

I was browsing trough submissions when this picture really catch me.
Firstly, because of her smile.
She looks so relaxed and somehow dreaming. Her eyes seem to be full of emotion and happiness as well. Something that makes you smile too.
The blurred background points attention to her - so there's nothing distracting, you just focus and stare at her smile and eyes.
The floating hair is the necessary movement for this portrait.
An emotion captured in a smile and a pair of eyes.
Really, really beautiful!
Great use of colors and lightning as well.

But, there are two small facts I do not like about this photo.
First, is the little hair stand that covers her eye, and second is the title. I know you probably named them before the set, but a similar title to the emotion captured in this photo would have worked better. In my opinion!

A painter could spend a years to finish his/her picture, to re-check hundreds of completely different details in his/her picture that embodiates the idea put it. Painter looks at the thing he/she draws, and makes improvements. Painter catches the nature and deals with eternity, and that could take very long time (actually that essentially could take centuries, just like musicians sometimes "cannot" finish their works). But the photographer deals with the short moment, and do not consider thing that "there are". A painter plays with the threads of beauty, weaves the pattern, makes any kind if "burtterfly" he/she wish to have. Photographer, unlike the painter, can only catch the exisiting "butterflies". Photographer is not a paint, and to make a photo is not even the art. To be a photographer it's like to throw dices. Artist looks at the things and reflect them throught his/her own prism experience. But the photographer reflects nothing. To pain things requires to have a certain feeling. But the photographer, in better case, could only catch the feeling. Well, that's nice thing to do, and may be enjoyable very much. But, however, the point is that all the greatest photos are taken accidentally. The beauty of Paula N. is in her, not in photographer, nor even in the photo-image itself. It's just in her. Just like a sunset - it's already in nature. Paula had this feelings, and, luckily, there was a luck accident which provided to catch the expression of her beauty. True beauty. Dear Paula N., if you would ever read this message and would like to talk with me, you might try to write me at "icysn[at]safe-mail[dot]net".

The idea, the human, the event, in other words - the idea, - it's the light, the ray. A photographer is like plain mirror that reflects the light, very simply and straightforwardly. A painter is like a complicated shining diamond.

P. S. I do understand ukrainian, russian, but not very well in speaking polish. But I could learn polish.
