A project for one of my art classes. Year before last? Last year? I don't remember. The assignment was to do a self portrait about something you're afraid of. Mine was thixophobia, fear of being touched or invasion of personal space. I really don't like people touching me without my permission, and especially during panic attacks it really bothers me (or makes the attack worse).??? hours, white conte on black matboard

it's always interesting to see art that depicts phobias! Love the glowy feeling in the pic which I feel like is a big challenge when doing art traditionally

Haha... I was actually partly SotC inspired when I drew this, which is why I chose the mostly black with glowy white/blue as a color scheme/medium, and the creepy things reaching out of the darkness. Also, I made sure to wear a headband when I took my reference pic, though it was a wide one. ;D

It shows very well what you want it to show. Invasion of my personal space is something I fear also, so I'm touched by your drawing. And the drawing itself is very well done.

Why thank you! I couldn't really think of an object or anything else I feared (others in my class included pigeons, zombies, pregnancy, etc.) so I had to get creative with how to represent this fear. I'm glad it comes through!
