As far as fan art goes, this pencil sketch of Captain Jack, arguably one of the most popular characters of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, works nicely given the traditional tools on hand. There seems to be proper shading on his skin, the facial hair looks detailed and realistic enough, and the other little details complete the picture. On top of that, there’s nothing noticeably wrong with the face either. So good job on everything in that regard.
While I will say that the hair certainly stands out, and you’ve done nicely on that aspect, I do get the impression that he’s more of a model than a seafaring pirate with how it’s drawn and presented. It seems very well-washed and tidy, and I don’t know if that really suits him. It’d be almost like Jack Sparrow starred in a shampoo commercial, because hunting for treasure just didn’t pay enough.
My issues about the hair aside, I certainly can’t complain with the rest of the portrait. It’s great as far as details go and there’s hardly a thing out of place. All I can hope for is that you keep doin’ what you’re doin’. You can only get better from here on out.
