This is a rather random picture. I got these new pens that I've wanted for ages...but got kind of put off as the manga pic on the front of the packaging is very poor. But I had a random want to get them so I did.. and I love them. I've been using them to colour things for my site that I'm putting together (yay finally my own site, after years of not having one). They dry in gorgeous flat colour. And they layer so beautifully, but also merge so smoothly. They make images look like they're so much more professional. I love the fact I now have a really nice way to colour by hand (other than colouring pencils, which I have difficulties adjusting to manga style with). Anyways this was an idea I've had for ages. I wanted to be a little experimental, so I used it to test my pens. It's Sakura from Card Captor Sakura (one of my fave manga characters) in one of those extremely cute pyjama outfits from Pita-ten, that i've wanted to draw for so long. Except I didn't want Sakura to have a rabbit or kitty outfit like in Pita-ten. So I gave her one Kero ears and tail. She looks so sleepy in this pic. Like she's woken up from a good dream. The sakura flower and stars were CLAMP influenced too. I love the idea of the simpler BG. But all done with my pens. I have only got a few colours, but they're perfect for this pic. I only have two blues so the darker blue was layered quite a few times, but I think it worked. I managed to create a really nice subtle glow around the stars at the top which I love. I need to experiment more with hair, amongst everything else, but otherwise, just me doodling with thing I love, of things I love ^-^Sakura is a copyrighted character of CLAMp with whom all character rights remain

I think I can see some shading on her dress - though I'm not too sure cos it might be too light for me

Lol I've always loved sakura. CLAMP are very good at doing very sweet femal characters. Sakura is incredibly sweet and gentle, yet also fiesty. I love CLAMP so very much! I agree with the shading on her dress. When I coloured it on paper it showed up a whole lot more. But every way I tried to scan it, it would barely come up. But I didn't wan to manipulate it. Hopefully I'll get another range of pens soon, so I get a slightly better choice of contrasting colours. I do love using these pens so very much. They are very beautiful. I was just so proud of this as my tester piece for my new pens ^-^ It came out better than I imagined! Thankies for the comment ^-^

that sounds to me like your using the letraset manga pack of pens, did you get the manag starter pack thingie, or did you get the pro shonen or shojo ones? The pic is awesome aswell, i use the pens aswell, they're excellent, well worth the buy

Lol yesh they be letraset X3 It was the starter pack thingy. I have yet to see the shojo or shonen set, but I have heard of them. I do need more, the colours are a little limiting if you want a red or a purple

unfortunatly if you want the shonen or shojo sets its gonna cost you like £60 for 24 of them cause they are the better quality refillable ones

Actual I took a new look at the letraset site and you can buy the shonen and shojo packs for just under £13. They also do packs of 5 pens for just under £8. Looks like a spending spree for me then

thats cause your looking at the pro markers, where as i got the tria markers, they are better cause they are refillable, and come with 3 different nibs, plus you can buy other different shaped nibs to go on them too, i would recommend the tria ones cause of that, plus after a while the colour started to go all funny on my pro ones. But then again that just my opinion

Awww, this is so cute! ^__^ Are the markers that you bought from a brand called "Letraset", or something like that? My friend who lives in England sent me some--and the colors that I have look similiar to your picture! (They're exactly what I use for all of my drawings now.) Plus, I have to admit that the manga drawing on the package is rather... erm, bad. XD;

Well I have yet to see another set but the starter one avaliable in the shop near me. I think you can get them on their site, but I know they are sold at the london expo, which I'm hoping to go to. Really? I thought so, lol. XD But thank you, so is yours, of course! I actually prefer to use them over some nicer brands like Copic, despite the fact that they soak through paper really easily. Once you get the hang of using them, though, they're really nice~

Yeah, you have to work really quickly on your drawings before the markers dry, but once you get the hang of that, they're fun to use~!
