Description Patterns patterns patternsssss. And metallic Sharpie.
I need to do more Bible illustrations. They are so relaxing and fulfilling.

This depicts the part of the Jewish wedding where the groom covers himself and the bride with a prayer shawl. This is derived from the book of Ruth, when she asks Boaz to put his cloak over her, since he is her family's "guardian-redeemer." From what I understand, Ruth is asking Boaz to marry her, a Gentile widower, so that she and her mother-in-law Naomi will be ingratiated, or "redeemed," into the Jewish family again after the loss of their husbands.
It's an interesting parallel to us and God. God is our guardian-redeemer, and He is willing to bring us into the family we were separated from by sin. However, He gave us free will and allows us to choose whether or not we will be redeemed. He redeemed us, or paid our sin debt, by sending His willing Son, Jesus, to take the punishment for our mistakes, so we can have eternal life through Jesus.

Sorry if this short rant is a bit scatter-brained. I've been sick and so my mind is still a bit frazzled.

Not sure where I found "United" years ago, but I downloaded it for my desktop. Have been trying to find it again for several days so to say I'm excited right now is an understatement. I do have a blog and was wondering if you would grant me permission to post it? Thank you.

Sorry. Been out of state. No problem giving you credit since people know I can't even trace. lol Do I write it as "Art by iesnoth"? "United by iesnoth" or what?Β
Really appreciate this.

Jesus... this is so great!! I've also been thinking of such a wedding themed picture with God as the groom, but this is just... stunning!! And no, it's not scatter-brained at all!! It's so beautiful and it really makes me happy just by looking at it
Wow... I could kiss this picture (if I could) Β

Aww! Praise God! I just can’t get over how lovely this is! I recognized the prayer shawl from the thumb and got so excited! The Scripture matches perfectly...the entire concept is so beautiful! The whole piece is obviously very well-thought outβ€”I love how much movement and emotion you worked into it. I also like all the intricate patterns you added, and their expressions made my day! Β

I love your artwork. And I love that you're willing to share your beliefs here on the internet - I know I find it super intimidating.
Also, gorgeous patterns.

Beautiful work--your time on patterns was well spent! And I'm glad it is rewarding for you, because it is such a blessing for me (and others, too!) to see Christian art. The image of bride and bride-groom is one of my favorites for God and his church. Thank you for your work!

That is AMAZING. Ruth is one of my favorite books of the Bible, and I've been doing a very long study on it that squeezed any joy of reading out of the book, so this is an awesome breather. Oh, and in the story, I based the fall on a tumble I took from a shed roof when I was eight and being pushed out of a tree house last year. Thank you for reading it! May God help you get better soon!

What study is it? As I was writing this blurb, I thought I should study Ruth more.

Did you fall off the roof or fall from a rope? Those two falls would cause the person to land different ways.

It was in my Sunday school. I fell of a roof. It hurt. A lot.

This is beautiful! You know, the Bible is full of analogies and stories that either hint at or flat out say that Jesus/God wants to marry us or adopt us or make a covenant with us, basically bring us into His family.Especially looking at Revelation it seems like the entire summary of scripture is "God wants to marry us". But I never caught that implication with Boaz and Ruth before! (I really should have, kind of obvious now that you've pointed it out.) *runs off to geek out about Theology some more*

Yes, family really is at the core of Christianity. It's not a means to get to heaven, but more about finding where we belong and serving others as family.

And the mind-numbing, earth-shattering, (enter other rambling adjectives here), reality that GOD wants to be in a FAMILY with US. ^_^
