I wanted to draw a self portrait to be my avatar for my new DeviantArt account. I found this photo I took a few months ago, where I got dressed up like a dolly and went out to my backyard to sing. There's this forest area with a mysterious broken down van that my friend coincidentally said belonged to her family, since it has their name on it. The van is covered in moss and rust, and it looks like something out of post-apocalyptic fiction. It's become one with the forest now. I don't even know what color the van originally was. I painted it with the intent of it being gray or silver underneath all the greenery. It was fun doing splotches of green and brown. I didn't really know what I was doing, but I'm happy with how it turned out. From afar, the windows have the same effect that they do in real life, where there are gaps in the algae-like stuff on the windows where you can see through into the car, but it's too dark and dusty to see what's in there. I'm wearing a dress that I got on ebay so I could have a cute cottagecore Victorian doll aesthetic. The dress came with the teddy bear with the matching bow. I named him Tommy. The background feels a little Ghibli-like. I feel like a character in a movie... Something with a post-apocolyptic Victorian aesthetic. Oh, this was painted with my favorite Marie's Watercolours. The paper was a cheap store brand watercolor paper, but it worked surprisingly nicely.
