Description
So I've been spending a lot of time at my local animal shelter (alongside school, that may explain why I'm so quiet lately!), and my art talents have been discovered XDOne of the trainers mentioned she was thinking of doing a project like Flat Fred with the junior program, but instead of "Flat Fred" it'd be "Flat Fido"
I'm not sure if the project is a "go" or not yet, but I decided to do a little flat fido anyway.
He'll be die-cut out (cut around him) and laminated for the project :3
This is my first try at markers in about 5 years, and I must say I like how it turned out! I've always been scared of markers and have stayed away from them my entire artist life x) But they can be really helpful.

Amazing Idess. The simplicity of Fido is... amazing! When you do the shading, do you use different colors that are just a tad darker?

For this one, I only used one colored pencil for the shading, and yes it was darker than the base color

The eyes shine is amazing and the way you blended the colors (marker and pencils) is almost unbelievable. What was your technique did you lay the marker down first and then pencil over it its so smooth. Any who, anatomy is good pose is grand and like I said before highlights and shading are just uber awesome good job :3 I would buy XD

Yep, I lay down the marker thickly so it looked all even, then took pencil on top. I would usually blend the pencil colors together like I do with my other colored pencil pieces, but this one only had one color for the shading (didn't want to get too detailed for a children's piece!) so it wasn't really blendable x)

What do you mean 'like this'? XD Just curious, because I'm pondering changing my badges to having a marker base with pencil over it (more detailed than this of course, this was only one color shading), to cut down time o3o

You did a fabulous job! <3 I thought it was colored pencils at first and wondered how you got such smooth coverage. xD Markers can be a real blast, I think they're worth getting used to.
