Generally I sketch it, scan it to my computer, messily trace the lines, then copy that layer (just in case I make a mistake) && then I color everything (for the most part) on one layer. I may add a few for detail or copy the layer to add something to it but if I don't like it I'll still have the other one as a backup
&& then the background is another layer
overall, I use two layers :33
